Progressive Leaders Tanking

Trudeau is history. Voters throughout Europe are tossing out progressives because they FINALLY recognize:

  • Blowing money on green energy solutions that don't work, while bastardizing fossil fuels is LUNACY.

  • Allowing millions of unvetted immigrants to enter your country illegally has a massively deleterious impact on crime and financial solvency. Not to mention national sovereignty and culture.

  • Condoning transgender policies that punish women and pollute children is just plain wrong.

Small and Large

He lied about small things – like graduating in the top half of his law school class or leadership in the civil rights movement. His uncle being eaten by cannibals. He lied about personal things – like falsely claiming his son died in Iraq, and that members of his family were killed by a drunken driver. Not to mention Hunter's laptop.

And he lied about BIG, blatantly obvious things, like inflation rates, student loan forgiveness and his promise not to pardon his son’s many crimes. He lied about matters of global significance – like the border being secure, the Afghanistan withdrawal being a success, and his own direct involvement in his family’s influence peddling.

All the while spending 40% of his time in office neither in the White Office nor doing America's business. 570 "vacation" days by official count. Honestly, how do you look in the mirror?

His legacy? A legacy of abject FAILURE.

They Still Don't Get It

While California burns and the Governor and Mayor of LA blather and diddle, there are still liberals whose biggest concern is Donald Trump saying harsh things about California leadership. Meanwhile dozens are dying and tens of thousands of homes are lost. And Trump is the bad guy.

Talk about a dog with a bone. If lefties showed the same tenacity protecting the American way as they do going after Trump, we'd all be way better off.

Can America Become Great Again?

Previously we've excerpted from and commented upon Neil Gorsuch's book, Over Ruled. This weighty tome is not an easy read. But, it's main point is simple. Too many laws, rules and regulations now control and interfere with our freedom and our lives. More importantly, they significantly compromise the opportunity being an American once meant.

Much of the "legal" obstruction that curbs free enterprise and entrepreneurial spirit emanates from the thousands and thousands of rules and regulations created by unelected bureaucrats who occupy state and federal agencies. Gorsuch provides dozens of examples of downright absurd hoops that Americans must jump through to make a living.

For example:

  • In MD, you need a license to be a fortune teller.

  • In LA, you need one to open a flower shop.

  • In TX, to be an eyebrow threader and hair braider.

In each, there is a not inconsiderable price tag in hours and $$$ to obtain the permissions needed. All for jobs that earn $30,000 or less a year.

What is the offshoot? People give up and go back to work in minimum wage jobs. Services are denied and all suffer. I mean really how much damage can a florist or braider do if they get it wrong? The roses wilt?

Then there is the matter of agency interference in larger scale commerce. Recently the Biden Administration put the kaibosh on the JetBlue/Spirit merger. We wrote about the misguided rationale for that interference. Consider the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978. Prior to its enactment, not a single new passenger airline entered the market for 40 YEARS. In the six years after, 134 new airline companies were formed.

What was the result? Well, fares came down 40% in inflation-adjusted terms. Traffic increased 50%. And guess what - airplanes didn't start falling out the skies as skeptics forecast. Market forces prevailed. Now many of those start ups failed, were absorbed or merged. So what. The market sorted itself out and both consumers and entrepreneurs prospered. Is airline travel a joy? Hell no, but if you don't like it, take the train. Not in California however, where billions spent on rail transportation have been flushed down the drain.

So what does this have to do with America becoming great again. Well the way I see it. The root cause of all evil can be traced to those "9 most terrifying words". Most of the stupidity, self indulgence and greed that has led to the dilemma we now endure can be traced to the politicians, the unelected bureaucrats that really control the government apparatus, the faculties of American universities and the lame stream media. Together they protect their fiefdoms like a pack of hungry wolves. They not only feed off one another, they crossbreed. Almost always using taxpayer monies as fuel. They care little about those they were hired to serve and focus 24/7 on self preservation. First, justification then expansion.

So why do we allow them to behave this way? Two reasons. We are brainwashed and we have lost sight of what America means. In many cases, we are taught in our schools and our media that America is to blame. Only 38 states require a high student to take a class in US civics. Only six require a full year class. Fewer than 50% of Americans can name the three branches of the US Federal Government. 30% of Millennials (ages 28-43, aka Gen Y) think it's "not" important to have free elections to select leaders. Sixty percent (60%) of Americans would flunk the test immigrants are required to pass to become citizens. We tear down monuments, label our founders as racists, even outlaw 4th of July celebrations. Each year cries to abandon the "outdated" Constitution become louder.

This malaise is not only condoned, it is openly encouraged by legacy media, institutions of higher learning and progressive politicians. As Jefferson said, "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, it expects what never was and never will be." It is proven beyond doubt, that civics-educated young people are more likely to vote, work on community issues, be socially responsible and be confident to speak publicly and interact with elected officials. Today much of our collegiate youth are most comfortable hurling insults from the safety of a crowd - if not bottles and rocks.

It was said many years ago that our democracy was not only a form of government but a "system of manners". Boy have we lost sight of that objective. I know, I know. CME is as guilty as the next. But it's instinct to counterpunch.

Make Greenland Great Again

'Nuff said. Why not?

Naivete from JFK.

I recently read John F. Kennedy once said, "We are not afraid to trust Americans with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies and competitive positions. A nation afraid to trust its people with the truth is afraid of its people."

Would that it be so. If those upon whom we rely for information and guidance could be trusted to provide unvarnished truth, perhaps JFK would be on the money. But, alas, that is not the world in which we find ourselves. The information we are fed is replete with fake news, falsehoods, out of context distortions and intentional untruths. From the highest office in the land down, politicians and pundits stand up and LIE. Then LSM repeats and embellishes those lies.

If you think this allegation is overly harsh or even off the mark, go listen to Biden's farewell address, which he gave from the State Department on Monday. He continues to portray the accomplishments of Biden/Harris and the state of the union in glowing terms. "Leaving the new Administration a strong hand". Yeah right. Fortunately a convincing majority saw it otherwise on November 5th.

Lest There Still Be Doubt

Special Counsel David Weiss' final report on his years-long investigation into Hunter Biden determined the first son's drug abuse could not explain away not paying taxes on millions of dollars of income earned off of his "last name and connections."

"As a well-educated lawyer and businessman, Mr. Biden consciously and willfully chose not to pay at least $1.4 million in taxes over a four-year period. From 2016 to 2020, Mr. Biden received more than $7 million in total gross income, including approximately $1.5 million in 2016, $2.3 million in 2017, $2.1 million in 2018, $1 million in 2019 and $188,000 from January through October 15, 2020," Weiss wrote in his final report, which was released Monday.

"Mr. Biden made this money by using his last name and connections to secure lucrative business opportunities, such as a board seat at a Ukrainian industrial conglomerate, Burisma Holdings Limited, and a joint venture with individuals associated with a Chinese energy conglomerate. He negotiated and executed contracts and agreements that paid him millions of dollars for limited work," Weiss continued.

And still every chance he gets, Biden chants the "wealthy must pay their fair share".

No surprises here Look up "influence peddling" in Webster's and you'll see a portrait of the Biden Crime Family. This is a sterling example of why I once made the outrageous claim that no one should be allowed to run for Congress or the White House unless they have a net worth of at least $10 million. Easy money is too tempting.

Time for a Drill Sergeant

Pete Hegseth heads to the Capitol Hill today for what will be a grueling, cantankerous and probably downright nasty hearing. When asked his priorities, Hegseth named three. He intends to "restore the warrior ethos to the Pentagon," provide "new defense companies" with a better shot at winning contracts, and rapidly deploy emerging technologies.

Hegseth will be excoriated, no doubt on two levels. His personal life (admitted serial cheater before he reformed) and no high level DOD experience or military experience. What experience does he have? Most importantly - boots on the ground and a resolute commitment to the mission - REFORM US MILITARY. We've tried retired generals, academics and defense contractor executives — and where has it gotten us? A military infected with woke wimps that nobody wants to join.

My father, who served in WW II, used to tell a story. He was part of a convoy in France, when rumors came up the line the "general" was on the way. A bit later he heard a loud voice come from atop a tank that was rambling by at flank speed. A loud voice yelled, "Get the Hell out of the way, willya fellows. So I can go kill some Germans." Forget drill sergeant, it's time for George Patton.

This time next week the journey to MAGA starts again.

CA Wildfire Update

Death toll 25 and counting. Damage almost $300 billion. 12,000 structures lost. And the solution - they want more tax dollars. Question. If you can't stop one wildfire, how much do you need the stop climate change?
