The Case for Ronald “Dion” DeSantis
As reported, I believe Ron DeSantis is the best option for not only beating Joe Biden next November but leading this country back to a prosperous path. I like DeSantis for the following reasons:
His Background
He comes from a modest background. No silver spoon here. Dad was a field rep for the TV ratings company, Nielsen. Mom, who was born in Poland, was a critical care nurse. Dad gave his son the middle name Dion in honor of Dion DiMucci who gave us Runaround Sue and The Wanderer. How can that be bad?
Ron went to public schools through High School. Raised a catholic, he attended church every Sunday “or else”.
He was an avid baseball player, who later became captain of his college baseball team. Led his team with a .336 average as a senior at Yale.
He “earned” his way into Yale and graduated with honors. No small feat as all of us who put kids through college know. Just try getting into Yale being White & Catholic.
He then went on to “earn” his way into Harvard Law School where he again graduated with honors earning Cum Laude distinction.
He also worked summers and throughout high school, college and law school since tuition etc. were more than his parents earned in a year.
So, he went to demanding schools, paid full boat, was an athlete, worked a job all the way through AND graduated with honors.
Upon graduation from Harvard Law School with options to join Wall Street law firms and earn hundreds of thousands, Ron chose to start giving back. He joined the Navy.
He served in Judge Advocate General’s Corps doing a term in Iraq where he was assigned to the Navy Seals. He “earned” a Bronze star.
With this pedigree after completing active military service (he stayed in reserves until 2019), Ron was set. Go to Wall Street and make millions. But he didn’t.
He chose family and service again.
Along with his wife, former television personality, Casey Black, he began to raise a family and conduct a grass roots campaign for a new congressional seat in Florida. Casey and Ron met by chance at a driving range. How can that be bad?
In 2012, he “earned” election to the House of Representatives from the 6th congressional district.
In 2018, Ron was elected Governor of Florida narrowly defeating the Democratic candidate, Andrew Gillum, who later went on to distinguish himself by being indicted on 21 felony counts, entering rehab after being caught with crystal meth, etc. I know, I know – how is that relevant? Maybe he helped train Hunter?
In 2022 he was reelected in a landslide. Of note, this was also the first gubernatorial election since 2006 in which a candidate received over 50% of the vote. His 19.4% margin of victory was the largest since 1982 and the largest for a Republican since 1868. It was also the first time the governorship was won by double digits since 2002, and the first time it was won by over one million votes. Charlie (Wonder which party he’ll join next time) Crist's 40% performance was the worst for a Democratic nominee for governor of Florida since 1916.
Now he is CEO of the fourth largest, fastest growing state in the union for the past 5 years and counting.
In summary, Ron DeSantis’ background is the stuff of dreams. It comprises:
Coming from, at best, middle-class roots and a public school education.
Strong faith and family-based upbringing.
Excelling at elite college and law school.
A star athlete through college.
Working throughout his life to make ends meet.
Service to his country and its citizens, instead of chasing the moola.
Proof he can lead and manage a major enterprise as twice-elected Governor of Florida, the 3rd largest state in the union.
Anything I missed? I'll put that resume against any.
Accomplishments as Governor
Florida's economy is ranked #1
Florida leads the nation in new business formations.
Florida has led all large states in economic growth.
We have paid off almost 25% of all state debt and have one of the lowest per capita debt ratios in America. And we have zero state income tax. Take that NY, CA, IL.
Florida has gained more wealth over the past three years than any state has ever gained in US history.
Florida ranks #1 in education.
Crime is at a 50 year low.
Like to see anybody on the stage lay claim to that kind of record! Let alone Joe Biden. After 50 years living the good life off taxpayers’ backs, what has he to show except flip flops and bribes?
Platform
Reestablish Military Superiority – any distractions or barriers to the mission of the United State Military, which is defend America, will be systematically eliminated.
All DEI impediments that helped make 2022 the worst recruiting year in the history of an all volunteer military must be stripped out. This applies not only to the four branches but as importantly the DOD and the academies. (Since publication U of FL has eliminated DEI department.)
Talking head generals must go.
Racial preferencing must go.
Reinstate unvaccinated service personnel.
Prioritize readiness and lethality – not climate change and ideology.
Build back our weapons capabilities after years of depletion under Biden and Obama.
In other words, back to MISSION FIRST!
Stop the Invasion – secure the border, return the illegals, enforce the law.
End catch & release.
Re-impose Remain in Mexico.
Hire more Border Patrol agents and pay them better.
End citizenship for children of illegals.
Build the wall…all of it, not 20 miles.
Wage war directly on the Cartels in Mexico.
Deport illegals.
In total, 35 specific initiatives
In other words, reestablish our borders and thus our sovereignty.
Energy – reestablish independence. Become “again” a net exporter. Stop beholding to energy rich countries that hate us and plot our demise daily.
China – Stop this menace before it’s too late. Stop cozying up. Rebuild our capabilities in microchips, rare earths and other strategically vital components*. Root out all the politicians sucking at the CCCP teat.
Get the Economy humming again.
Rein in the Fed.
Stop bailouts of failed companies, industries and especially bad actors who take our money but hate our guts.
Stop the debilitating effect of excessive regulations by the EPA and others that make it impossible for industries we need to thrive.
Restore our economic sovereignty*.
Gut the administrative state.
Cut RECKLESS SPENDING that has led to the debt that now exceeds 3.4T. Take on the tough stuff needed to make this happen, including Social Security and Medicare. If not now, when?
Closing Argument
All Republican candidates congregate around the same positions, more or less. They all favor:
Getting control of the border
Taking a hard line with China
Overhauling our education system
Reestablishing energy self sufficiency
Dialing back all the Woke overkill with respect to sexuality, climate change, etc.
Building back our military superiority
Motherhood and apple pie.
The REAL question is who has the courage and conviction to take on the establishment and the libs to get it done? For sure it’s unlikely to be a Washington insider. The only thing that matters is who’s done it before? Who kept the state open, shunned masks and put the kids back in school during Covid? Who took on Woke interests including huge corporations like Disney? Who served in the Military, understands the concept of mission and staying the course? Who cut the debt? Who led his state to the top of the heap in economic growth? Who has the upbringing, education, pedigree to be a leader?
One person stands above the rest. RONALD DION DeSANTIS, that's who.
Ask yourself how can a state without an income tax achieve not only solvency but surplus, when other states with onerous taxes and strict gun laws see looting on a daily basis and huge deficits? See NY, CA, IL.
