More Blue State Problems, Filibuster in Real Danger

You Probably Thought Nobody Could Top Newsom/Harris/Pelosi in the Golden State
Not necessarily. The Mayor of NYC was indicted yesterday for campaign corruption. A few days after his Police Chief resigned in disgrace. Don't forget he last two Governors of the dark blue state, Cuomo and Spitzer, were both forced to resign. What a cesspool the Empire state has become. Another example of Blue State/City corruption.
More details as they emerge...
Do You Remember Andy?
Back in Covid's heyday, openly harboring Presidential aspirations, Governor Andrew Cuomo took it upon himself to ship a boatload of Seniors with Covid to local Nursing Homes. Not only did their condition deteriorate but they infected the residents. Many died. Cuomo reversed the practice shortly thereafter and later resigned. He is now under subpoena before Congress on the matter.
But Andy ain't done! He's still out there swingin'.
He endorsed Kamala (surprise, surprise) saying she would unite and bring new "energy" (as opposed to the cadaver who technically still inhabits 1600). But mostly he says it's because we can't afford another Trump.
Despite being off base as usual, he did have a few sensible things to say. He labeled Defund the Police the "dumbest words ever uttered." Good for you Andy. Let's not forget Kamala was on that bandwagon once though she'll never admit that now. Cuomo went on to say a few more surprising things for a Lib Dem.
He noted that Harris getting into office wouldn't "solve all our problems" (ya think?) because government "isn't working for people on a very basic level," (ya think?) and launched into a six-minute rant against progressive politics.
"Things are getting worse, not better," Cuomo continued. "And I think it's time that we take a fresh look and take a new perspective when we look at what's going on."
"Today, we have a great political argument on the Democratic side: Who is more progressive?" he added. "I don't even think they know what the word means, progressive. You cannot be a progressive if you don't make progress." (ya think?) Cuomo said that the U.S. was "going backwards" thanks to progressive policies.
Ya gotta hand it to Andy. After he got kicked out as Governor and his brother got kicked off CNN, one might think he'd fade into the shadows. But no - when all's said and done, he's still a career politician (like Clinton 1&2, Obama, Biden). They all put Lazarus to shame. Andy's still in their plugging. His father, Mario (RIP) must be so proud of his boys. NOT. Mario was actually pretty level headed for a Dem and a damn good speaker.
Could it be? Nah...Andy can't be thinking of running again, can he?
More Progressive Rubbish (Source: WSJ)
Leftie commentators and advocates have insisted over the past year that crime rates are falling. ABC’s David Muir asserted so while FACT CHECKING Donald Trump during the recent presidential debate. The nation’s largest crime survey says otherwise: Crime rates haven’t been falling, and urban crime is far worse than it was in the pre-George Floyd era.
The new findings were released this month by the National Crime Victimization Survey. Run by the Bureau of Justice Statistics and administered by the Census Bureau, the NCVS dates to the Nixon administration and is one of the largest federal surveys on any topic. It asks some 230,000 U.S. residents annually whether they’ve been the victims of crimes. It then asks about the nature of the crime, whether it was reported to the police, the demographics of the perpetrator and other particulars.
The NCVS report for 2023 finds no statistically significant evidence that violent crime or property crime is dropping in America. Excluding simple assault—the type of violent crime least likely to be charged as a felony—the violent crime rate in 2023 was 19% higher than in 2019, the last year before the defund-the-police (Thank you, Andy) movement swept the country.
But crime hasn’t risen equally across the nation. America’s recent crime spike has been concentrated in urban areas. These are the areas in which leftist prosecutors have gained the strongest footholds, where police have been the most heavily scrutinized, and where lax enforcement and prosecution have become common.
The results aren’t pretty. According to the NCVS, the urban violent-crime rate increased 40% from 2019 to 2023.
The urban property-crime rate is also getting worse. It rose from 176.1 victimizations per 1,000 households in 2022 to 192.3 in 2023. That’s part of a 26% increase in the urban property-crime rate since 2019. These numbers exclude rampant shoplifting, since the NCVS is a survey of households and not of businesses.
Here's where the Libs pull the wool...
Such NCVS findings are far more reliable than the Federal Bureau of Investigation figures that left-leaning commentators emphasize, for five reasons.
First, the NCVS figures are finalized statistics, not unpolished, partial-year preliminary figures.
Second, the FBI switched to a new reporting system in 2021 that makes year-to-year comparisons (from before to after its change) difficult if not impossible. Like College Boards etc. - shoot the messenger.
Third, the NCVS is a nationally representative survey, while the FBI lacks data from a relatively large number of law enforcement agencies, including the Los Angeles Police Department, and it hasn’t had the same mix of agencies reporting data each year.
Fourth, the FBI isn’t considered a principal statistical agency by the federal government, so its ability to compensate for such missing data is limited.
Fifth, the NCVS captures crimes whether they are reported to the police or not. In the 2023 NCVS, crime victims conveyed that a majority—55%—of violent victimizations weren’t reported to the police, while 70% of property-crime victimizations weren’t reported. The FBI publishes data only on crimes reported to the police, which means it doesn’t capture most crimes.
Since the summer of 2020, when many cities adopted lax law enforcement policies, the U.S. has experienced a huge urban crime spike. The newly released figures don’t show this urban crime spike abating. If we insist on rerunning the failed social experiments of the 1960s and ’70s, we should expect similar results. Thanks to the success of “broken windows” policing in the 1990s and 2000s, we know what works. When will our cities adopt such sensible policies in lieu of their current ones? (Again, go Andy)
It's Official
After ducking and dodging on almost every single policy question so far, Kamala came out with a specific this week. She is OFFICIALLY for killing the Filibuster. Although she couched her position in terms of Abortion only, if you believe for even a second she will stop there, I have a bridge to sell you.
Again, for the record, some of the things we could expect from a Democratic Senate if there were no safeguard (at least 60 votes to pass) are:
DC and PR become states (and would vote Democratic right down the line).
Right to Work (without a union), which is now law in 27 states, would be overturned.
Deportation of illegals will be made illegal. Path to citizenship will jammed through ensuring most of the 11 million illegals who entered in the last three years will be Democrat voters for life.
The federal government will now decide voting rights and election conduct - not the states.
The Supreme Court, as we know it, will be overhauled - term limits, court packing, etc.
All kinds of green regulations (like Cap & Trade) would be made law. Good bye gasoline & diesel engines.
And, of course, Abortion would be made the law of the land again.
In other words Federalization of everything including the air we breathe.
Some may ask...aren't the Democrats afraid that when the Republicans control the Senate the repercussions will be draconian? Well, it seems whatever fear Harris & her cronies have of "turnabout is fair play" pales in comparison to winning in November. And since Abortion is the only issue to which they can lay claim, it's future be damned. Win, Baby win.
Read again the list of things we can expect from a Harris Administration if she has her way - and then tell me again that we should be afraid Donald Trump will destroy American democracy. Yeah, right.
Russian Collusion
Remember the duplicitous boondoggle the Dems threw at Trump after he won in 2016? Alleging Russian (foreign) interference was responsible for his victory over Hilary. It too was rubbish and totally debunked after millions were wasted trying to prove it.
Well this week, the White House flew Vlad Zelensky to a munitions plant in Scranton, PA to thank the workers. Ironically, he was hosted by Josh Shapiro, who was denied the VP slot because Kamala feared backlash over his Jewish heritage. Apparently it's okay for the Ukraine to meddle in US elections with undisguised White House sponsorship.
A Foreign Affairs Scorecard for Biden/Harris
As a math major and sports fan I like keeping score. So here's my rundown of winners and losers under Biden/Harris.
Winners (became more aggressive and dangerous under Biden/Harris)
Iran
Shia Militia in Iraq
Hamas
Houthi Rebels
Hezbollah
Russia - China Alliance
Taliban
Illegal Immigrants
South/Central American Gangs
Drug Cartels
Losers (Lost prestige, respect and strength)
Elected governments in Iraq and Afghanistan
Ukraine
NATO alliance & Western Europe
United States of America
The only reason Israel escapes the Loser list is Netanyahu didn't pay any attention to Biden and went it alone.
In closing...Interview count now stands 59-21 Trump/Vance. And that doesn't factor in that every single one of Harris' were with friendlies. All she ever does is drone on about what she supports with nary a word about what she plans to do to implement that support (except abolish the Filibuster).
