Well the Kamala-Trump debate is in the books. What a disaster for Republicans.

Earlier in the day I was talking to my former college roommate and football teammate. John is a retired lawyer, high school football coach (volunteer) and two term State representative in the very Blue State of CT. Nonetheless, he is all in on Trump. Thinks Dems in CT these days are hopeless.

He asked me if I was ready for the big debate. I said emphatically NO. I told him I cringe every time I watch Trump hold forth. Doesn't matter if it's an interview, a rally or, God Forbid, a debate. Let's face it - he only whipped Biden because the old man did a faceplant.

Now Donald Trump has a couple of very good traits. He is resilient and courageous. And he believes in the right things things (You know...border and energy security, low taxes and regulations, strong military and standing up to enemies). But a capable, effective communicator he is not. Which is the main reason I was so high on Anybody but Trump but preferably DeSantis.

Last night was a perfect case in point. Holding all the aces, he butchered the opportunity. Sure the debate was rigged and the moderators never once called Kamala out, while they "fact checked" Donald multiple times. Nonetheless Trump was Trump. Rambling, at times incoherent, sniping every chance he could. Really a very poor performance. How bad? Kamala wants another debate!!!

What I don't understand is why the guy can't make a succinct, cogent argument. Something like:

  1. Look - I think we can all agree the #1 concern among voters is the economy, especially inflation in food prices, energy, housing.

  2. Inflation was 1.4% when Biden took office. Then it hit 9% two years later. (Don't say it was highest in history because it wasn't even close)

  3. What were the primary causes? Energy prices skyrocketed after we relinquished self sufficiency, then there was excessive spending under the American Rescue Plan and the Inflation Reduction Act (almost 2 Trillion). It is a well known fact that spending always expands to consume the money available. More spending will always raise prices. Plus regulations. Lots of regulations.

  4. Before you say, "inflation is way down", understand economists say the biggest reasons inflation has eased are factors that the administration doesn’t control: Federal Reserve interest rate hikes, a global oil price decline and a slowdown in China’s economy.

  5. To claim record job creation is misleading. First, millions of jobs were lost during Covid so the baseline was artificially rock bottom. Second, who knows how many jobs were actually created? Recently it was reported that the jobs created number was overstated by 800,000.

  6. So bottom line, voters are telling us emphatically that they are not happy about the economy. 60% say I will do better.

  7. It is simply not true when Joe Biden says he inherited inflation from Donald Trump. You have been in charge for the last 4 years. Why haven't you fixed this problem?

A + B = C. Ipso facto.

Search for Power.

Nothing evokes shameless, diabolical immorality like a politician seeking power. The acts politicians trying to win or stay in power are willing to commit put many terrorists to shame. Their conduct displays primordial instincts rarely seen in other human endeavors. If ever Machiavelli's saying "The End Justifies the Means" applies, it is to realm of political behavior. Worse yet, once a politician acquires a taste of power, his actions multiply in deceit and cruelty.

This phenomenon exists for two reasons only. The LSM and the ballot box.

An Act of Uncommon Wisdom.

In a move of uncharacteristic common sense, that bastion of ALL LEFT, Oregon, has voted to recriminalize drugs (HB 4002). Leaders begrudgingly admit "a generation has been lost" because of permissiveness on drugs. The erudition of Oregon's liberal leaders is truly astounding.

Bernie's Getting Worried

Although he stated he is not worried that Kamala is abandoning her Socialist views (“No I don’t think she’s abandoning her ideals. I think she’s… doing what she thinks is right in order to win the election” - CBS News interview), he does consider her still a Progressive. He recognizes "she must be pragmatic and say whatever she needs to win election".

Isn't that ironic? Only do what's pragmatic to win, but not to govern.

Nice. How long do you think she'd have the pen in her sweaty mitts before the Woke agenda is stronger than ever? Xi, Putin, the Mullahs, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and millions upon millions of illegals are licking their chops.

(NB: I penned the following before the debate. Its hilarity is somewhat diluted now, thanks to DJT.)

Word Salad: Unintelligible, disorganized speech or writing that may indicate a mental disorder.

(Merriam-Webster Dictionary)

Please read carefully and don't worry if you have to reread like three times Honestly, you can't make this stuff up.

"I think there can be no higher priority than what we have been clear is our highest priority."

Cackle.

"It is time for us to do what we have been doing, and that time is every day."

Double Cackle.

"We've got to take this stuff seriously, as seriously as you are because you have been forced to take it seriously."

Protracted Cackles.

"When we talk about children of the community, they are children of the community."

Cackles accompanied by short dance.

"The significance of the passage of time, right? The significance of the passage of time, so when you think about if there is great significance to the passage of time. There is such great significance to the passage of time."

"For Jamaica, one of the issues that has been presented that is economic in the way its impact has been the pandemic. We will assist Jamaica in Covid recovery by assisting in terms of the recovery efforts in Jamaica that have been essential."

"I think that to be very honest with you, I do believe that we should have rightly believed what we certainly believe that certain issues are just settled."

"We will work together and continue to work together to address these issues, to tackle these challenges and to work together as we continue to work operating from the new norms, rules and agreements that we will convene to work together on, to galvanize global action and I know we will work together on this."

I guess she plans to work together - I mean really work together.

And finally (for this iteration) simple and to the point.

"You know it's cold outside when you go outside and it's cold."

A few impressions.

If I were Howard University, I'd disband the English Department. Here's what I really wanna know - who took the bar exam for her the second time around? Is there an upside? Possibly. I could see her eloquence so totally flummoxing our enemies that confusion and inertia will rule.

Remember you heard it here. If she gets elected you will soon beg for the Deer in the Headlights and his teleprompter.

Hopefully This is the Majority!

Point of View from a Black Female who won't be bullied. She asks, "If you (Kamala) are afraid to have a serious interview with a friendly network, like CNN or CBS, what will you do when you sit face to face with Putin or Xi?"

Put that in your pipe and smoke it!.

It's only a $7 Trillion Business They Want to Run

Prices of everything from groceries to gas to mortgages are now at least 20 percent higher than when Biden entered office and the national debt has exploded by another $7 trillion. Two of three Americans have consistently told pollsters that the country is headed in the wrong direction and that the American Dream is now harder to achieve.

Now we have Kamala Harris endorsing price controls on groceries and drugs and a $5 trillion tax increase that could trigger a stock market crash and another financial crisis.

Where have all these questionable ideas come from?

A new study at The Committee to Unleash Prosperity, has dubbed the Biden/Harris team "Amateur Hour"..

It turns out that the vast majority of the top Biden economic and financial advisers have little or no real-life business experience. The vast majority have never started a business and learned how to meet a payroll and make a profit.  And a shocking number of the key advisers never even WORKED for a business (or a lemon aid stand, no doubt). This is Obama all over again. Cronies without a shred of relevant experiences or accomplishments.

This lack of experience streams right down the flow chart. Of the top 60 Biden and Harris appointees with oversight over business, finance and commerce in the White House, the cabinet and the key regulatory agencies, 60% have almost no experience working in a for-profit business. Overwhelmingly, they are academics, career government officials, non-profit employees, community organizers or lawyers.   Only 10% have 10+ plus years of business experience. The median years of business experience is zero and the average is 3.1 years.

Would you trust a pilot to fly your plane if he or she had never flown before?

Really Ticks Me Off

That sad sack, Dubya refuses to endorse Trump. What a dick. That's not bad enough. Cheney is backing Kamala. Talk about Rino sour grapes (Trump mocked then trounced Low Energy Jeb). Cheney's still talking about how Trump tried to overthrow the government on January 6th, while ignoring how Biden & Harris have flat out cratered the country for the past 4 years. No dignity or integrity.

That's it for this week. Off to visit the young 'un in the Big (sour) Apple.
