Correction
In last week's segment discussing Perspective, CME mistakenly cited "Avoided Massive Tax Cuts." This was obviously a mistake. Should have read..."Avoided Massive Tax INCREASES." Apologies.
Alert
News will be pretty thin until mid September I'm afraid. Vacations, recesses, storms and lotsa hot weather.
Gaza Update
We are coming up on the second anniversary of the horrific terrorist attack perpetrated by Hamas on the state of Israel. Over 1200 murdered. Not only soldiers - babies, children and pregnant women. Hostages taken numbered 250 plus. The world was stunned and horrified. Unless you were Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran and Columbia University.
Israel mustered its courage as it always does and, despite mealy mouth approval and slow-played support from the Biden Administration, struck back. That struggle continues.
Let's try to cobble together an update.
Clearly Israel crushed Hezbollah and, with US bunker buster help, took out Iran. But the Hamas struggle continues and some hostages remain in captivity.
Lately fake news (FN is not only a US phenomenon, it is worldwide.) has been fueling the narrative that Israel is intentionally responsible for mass starvation by denying humanitarian aid.
Let's put some things in perspective.
Yes, Israel made it clear. No ceasefire - no aid.
Still - during the January-March ceasefire, HUGE amounts of food and aid were sent into Gaza. Enough for many months.
Surprise, surprise, much of it never reached those in need. While Hamas leaders kept plenty for themselves, much was brokered through Hamas-controlled agents at usurious prices citizens could never afford. The big problem is not so much supply but access and price. How many times have we seen terrorists pirate food for their own use and profit? Too many times to count. So what does a kilogram of flour now cost in Gaza? Well, in US terms, a pound of flour costs $15.
Pictures are being circulated that show anemic children allegedly starving to death. The most popular photo was of a child with a rare muscular disease who has been a skeleton for years.
RECENT HEADLINE from NYT: NEW YORK TIMES ADMITS USING MISLEADING COVER PHOTO OF EMACIATED GAZA CHILD
Again, reality is that HUGE amounts of food were allowed into Gaza during the January-March ceasefire enough for months upon months. So the big problem is not supply. It is price and hoarding by Hamas.
Recently, UK PM Starner, that leftwing puke, Macron of France and Canada's new PM have gone public criticizing Israel and announcing plans to "recognize" Palestine - whatever that means. Clearly politics at work. These countries have way too many Muslim immigrants and Hamas sympathizers to stay pro-Israel.
So what is the solution? The only viable one involves Hamas giving up control of Gaza and Hamas leaders being removed. Make no mistake about it. The problem is Hamas. Not Bibi. Not some contrived Israeli policy suborning starvation. Hamas has been defeated. They must surrender if they have one scintilla of compassion for their countrymen. For their "starving" children.
Leaders removed? So what is "removed" likely to mean? In all likelihood, safe passage to some terrorist shithole somewhere. Even with Iran out of commission, I'm sure there are plenty of candidates. Maybe the DRC. The Democratic (yeah right) Republic of the Congo where Jihadists murdered 49 Christians worshipping in church last week. Including nine children who were decapitated. Evil is in no short supply so a Hamas hiding place should not be hard to find. Once Hamas is gone watch how fast Palestinian lives will improve.
If there is a bright light, it's that the Saudi's and UAE are now calling for such a resolution. Imagine that. UK, France, Canada distance themselves from Israel and the Arabs stand up. On the darker side, reports say antisemitism is exploding in Canada.
Another Silver Lining to this Tariffs Thing?
The US took in $77 billion in tariffs in 2024. That number is pegged at $300 billion for 2025. $124 billion so far this year. This will more than cover the $158 billion increase in defense spending (BBB) needed to make our Navy and military arsenal competitive. See CNN's admission in a bit.
Wolves in Sheep's Clothing
Don't for a minute think that all these left-wingers now "admitting I was wrong" are permanent converts. The Bill Maher's of the world are wolves in sheep's garb. The slightest stumble by Trump of any significance will get "no second chance". They will be right back out in force stumping for Harris, Newsom, AOC and, yes, perhaps Mamdani.
Be vigilant not naive.
Anybody Worried about Flying?
Seems every other day there's another air tragedy or near miss. Doors falling off. Engines quitting. Near misses. The tragedy over Reagan Airport in January when an Army helo flying without basic technology collided with an AA jet and 64 died.
Maybe former Secretary of Transportation - and Mayor of South Bend, IN, Pete Buttigieg, should have used some of the $80 billion he doled out in DEI grants on FAA upgrades, which had already been authorized. Modernization of US Air Traffic Control is badly needed.
And now for some more cheap shots...
Anybody My Age Know Who Sydney Sweeney Is?
Okay, okay. So, there is no one my age. Still...Sydney's recent commercial has liberal commentators' hair on fire. The commercial shows "hot" Syd promoting American Eagle jeans and says, "Sydney has great jeans."
Libs say this is a blatant call for Nazism. Touting blond, blue eyed eugenics. In other words...good genes + good jeans = Nazism.
American Eagle's stock is soaring. And liberals wonder why their flagbearer, the Democratic party, is in the tank.
Every opportunity they get liberals are calling someone fascist or Nazi, yet they openly protest against Israel and the Jewish people. Kafkaesque, I'd say.
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Stephen Spielberg actually helped Joe Biden for his infamous debate with Donald Trump. The one that got him the boot. Biden did seem a bit like ET - no?
Not That You Should Care
But Kamala has (for the time being) decided not to run for CA governor. Amazing what zero enthusiasm will do to election dreams.
New Trick in Dem playbook
EXTORTION.
Schumer says Dems won't participate in votes on key Trump appointees until Trump frees up billions in taxpayer funds for Dem causes. Remember these appointees are necessary to do the job Trump was elected to do.
In Texas, Dem lawmakers are fleeing the state to forestall votes on issues they don't like.
Some "democratic" process. Add in local Judges rendering national injunctions against Presidential orders and it becomes clear we can on longer count on the Justice system or election results to counteract rogue politicians. Even when they are in a clear minority.
Another Leftwing Institution Bites the Dust
NPR and its parent company, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, have shut down. This blatantly disingenuous leftwing mouthpiece has spewed biased, liberal propaganda for decades. Turns out once taxpayer money no longer props them up, it's curtains. Good riddance.
Remember when we dissed the integrity of the "Jobs Report"
The one that continually published Home Runs when Biden was office then drastically downgraded the results "quietly" a month or two later. The report right before the election praised the growth only to be reduced by 1 million jobs right after.
Well, we're on the way to fixing that too. The Head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics was canned last week. Another Fake News outlet bites the dust.
CNN Said This????
CNN data guru Harry Enten said on Friday that President Donald Trump is the most influential president this century because of his tariffs and immigration policies.
"The highest since the 1930s up from, get, this just 2% last year. I can't think of a more influential president during this century, and it starts here with tariffs. He said he was going to raise tariffs, and despite the claims otherwise, he is in fact doing that. The effective tariff rate at this point looks to be nine times as high as it was last year." Enten said.
"It is not the only way that Trump is remaking America. The other big thing that Trump ran on was immigration. How about net migration in the United States? Get this, it's down. It's going to be down at least 60%.
Ten cuidado, Harry. If I were you, I'd polish my resume.
Rare Occurrence at the Fed
Two governors went public with their dispute over interest rate policy. Airing dirty linen happens like never at the Fed. They have always been thick as thieves. More to come on this for sure.
