Lawfare - Biden's 2024 Campaign Strategy

Lawfare is a relatively new term (to me, at least), which refers to the weaponization of the legal system for political purposes. Given the dearth of his accomplishments and abysmal ratings in the polls, it appears to be the core of Biden’s 2024 campaign strategy.
There was a time in the not-too-distant past when America was regarded as the most successful and desirable place on earth. “Last best hope for Mankind” and “Shining City on the Hill” stuff. Millions sought to come here. Many of man’s greatest contributions emanated from here. Good was done throughout the world. It was a place of which one could be proud.
Much of the credit for this unprecedented accomplishment goes to the wisdom of the Founding Fathers and the incredible framework they created – the American constitution. Because they inherently (and experientially) understood the tendency of those in power to abuse it, they created a system that scholars called Representative Democracy. Under this system, which is codified in the Constitution and Bill of Rights, three separate, but equal branches were established. The Congress, the Executive and the Judicial. For one reason more than all others – checks and balances.
The framers understood that the primary goal of all rulers and, in our case, politicians is to gain, retain and increase power by staying in office. By so doing, politicians stockpile influence, which they then trade for personal benefit. How else does someone making $400k a year for 8 years own mansions in Martha’s Vineyard, Hawaii and Washington, DC? How else does one’s son earn millions from foreign countries when he has no relevant skills and is, in fact, a reprobate?
Historically, there have been four main channels by which one can accumulate significant wealth. Inherit it. Steal it. Create something which society values and is willing to pay for. Or become a politician. It seems that the fourth might be the surest path.
Lately, the Democrats (synonym for Leftist – Liberals) have recognized that the American system can be tweaked to serve their purposes. Systematically, they have:
Attacked venerable institutions such as the Electoral College, the filibuster, the independent counsel hoping to remake them to serve their purposes (i.e., stay in power).
Promoted and expanded illegal immigration to shift elections in their favor.
Rigged elections through ballot harvesting and other nefarious practices.
Brought criminal charges against the opposition on spurious grounds, including the former President of the United States and certain 2024 Republican challenger.
Used the Justice Department to go after those who disagree, which started under Obama (read Worst President Ever) and has reached unprecedented heights under Merrick Garland.
Openly impugn the integrity of the Supreme Court (Nancy Pelosi – “SCOTUS is now on trial.”)
Promoted openly partisan judgments from left-leaning Federal, state and local judges.
These tactics are very scary. First, they violate the bedrock principles upon which this country was founded and has been based for 250 years. Secondly, they mandate reciprocal behaviors from opposition until the whole thing dissolves into a quagmire where elections no longer provide the vehicle to change direction when citizens decide it’s time. Think Totalitarian rule. Somebody show me one place in history or on earth where that has worked.
Republicans must be stupid.
How in the good Lord’s name can we think Donald Trump is the best hope we have for changing direction?
Almost half those polled still prefer Biden. How can that be? They still hate Trump because he derailed the Hilary express, which was supposed to inculcate the Obama plan and forever cement Leftist principles and Democrat rule. Even today, after the last three years of Biden malfeasance, a goodly chunk of those who agree Biden is pathetic say they would rather stay home than vote for Trump.
I say there is at least a 50-50 chance we lose this thing. Especially when the shenanigans begin.
Hunter and the Big Guy
We recently witnessed another episode in the never-ending saga of Hunter Biden. Testifying before Congress behind closed doors, his testimony was replete with contradictions and outright fabrications. This is no surprise because there is not one shred of decency or morality in this guy. He continues to deny that he played the "My father is VEEP" card over and over again to curry favor and threaten others.
From the beginning, Joe Biden has denied he was complicit or even aware of his son’s business dealings. This is, of course, a lie and not even remotely conceivable. Why would anyone pay millions to have a relationship with Hunter Biden? Completely skill-less and a drug addict reprobate.
So, in the age of Lawfare, the Republicans are now seeking a plausible basis to practice an eye for an eye and give Biden a dose of his own medicine. Namely impeach him. This is a ridiculous waste of time, which can never succeed since the Dem-controlled Senate would never convict.
To me, the main point here is Joe Biden’s abject dishonesty – and not the fact that he is guilty of influence peddling. Hell, show me a politician who isn’t. In a PolitiFact poll, 53% of voters said they would have changed their vote (from Biden to Trump) if they were made aware of the Hunter laptop story before the 2020 election. You may remember Biden did everything in his power to keep the laptop story muffled first, then discredited. He impaneled a committee of former intelligence bosses to swear it was Russian disinformation. Twitter banned the story. It is not far-fetched at all to suggest that if the Hunter laptop story was publicized Donald Trump would be in the White House.
To this day, Joe swears he knew nuttin!
Have a nice weekend.
