Free Speech Be Damned & Foreign Policy Nightmares

Free Speech is a ruse and right v. wrong an outdated notion.

No longer a hallmark of liberty, the first amendment is now a laughable ruse invoked by universities, politicians and other institutions to excuse their abhorrence of morality and decency.  It was the “dedication to free speech” that mandated the presidents of UPenn, Harvard and MIT look away while mobs hurled antisemitic slurs and threatened Jewish students on their campus.  This was the disgraceful reasoning offered to Congress as excuse for their tolerance, thereby implied endorsement, of the horrific behavior allowed to run rampant on their campuses.

(NB. Two have since been ousted).  Likewise, it was, of course, “respect” for our first and greatest of all amendments that required the Dean of Stanford Law School to, not only stand idly by, but defend the insults and shout downs with which her students greeted their invited guest, U.S. Circuit Court Judge, Kyle Duncan.

Free speech in American universities – Hah.  Ask any kid who attended the Ivies or the other so-called prestige universities in the last decade.  Free to speak out – yeah sure.  Just make sure, if your thoughts aren’t all the way to the left and expressed with proper woke pronouns, you are talking to the one in 12 professors who aren’t card-carrying liberals.  By the way, it is the university presidents who must sign off on all tenures.  Wonder how we got here?  The fish rots at the head.

College Pulse and the Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression just released their 2024 College Free Speech rankings.  55,000 students participated from 248 universities.  Categories included: 1) Speech Code; 2) Tolerance for Speakers; 3) Comfort Expressing Ideas; 4) Disruptive Conduct, etc.  Here are some not in the least surprising outcomes.

248 - Harvard (out of 248).  Grade – abysmal.

247 – UPenn

212 – Cornell (I withdrew my $100 annual donation)

207 – Stanford

187 – Princeton

136 – MIT

13 – U Chicago.

Apparently, the only freedom of speech that matters at these cellar dwellers is hating Jews, American Founding Fathers and successful white people.

Here is the headline story on Fox News yesterday morning:

“Harvard student unleashes on toxic culture after university’s decision president (to not fire).” PS. She did finally get the axe!

The International Mess We’re In

We are warning the Israelis to abide by international law, avoid “indiscriminate” bombing, extend the ceasefire and, in general, tone it down or no more $$$.  Such resolute, uncompromising support must embolden all US allies (e.g., Taiwan) to rest assured that we can be counted upon when the heat in the kitchen goes up.  China must be quaking in their boots and seriously rethinking the wisdom of provoking the comatose giant.  Probably will cut back on sending missiles and the like to Iran, Hezbollah, Russia and Hamas as China and Iran have given new meaning to proxy wars.  Nah.

We have no endgame or strategy in mind for Ukraine.  Just send more money and tell us it’s better than sending troops over there.  Meanwhile the Russians have time to regroup and rearm.  You simply can’t fight wars not to lose.  Americans have no stomach for a war of attrition.  Not against an enemy with a 100X the resources of its adversary. How anyone can think that Putin will back down is mindboggling.  Get ready for big blackouts in the winter coming.  Saddest part is what insufficient materiel we did send was woefully delayed and so depleted our own supplies we are now at to dangerously low levels ourselves.  How can the greatest power on earth run out of bullets?

Meanwhile Biden holds up Israeli aid by linking it to the Ukraine and then blaming the Republicans for wanting some action on our own border crisis.  Heard this morning that Shumer tied a green energy provision to the Senate bill but no border relief.  My God, the hubris.

On another front, moronic Bidenites are calling the meeting with XI (the one held in that glorious city by the bay) the beginning of Détente.  Hah.  Xi doesn’t want to deal with Trump, DeSantis or Haley.  He loves being buddies with feckless Joe.  He will do any/everything to prop up Joe so he can be reelected.  Especially if all it takes is a few empty promises and playing nice.  We are such fools.

When any nation abdicates its use of necessary deterrents such as sanctions, financial/military support and force, adversaries pounce.  We are in a multifaceted cold war and we do nothing but bungle our deterrents.  And, let’s not forget that recent Russian aggression was kindled when Obama drew a red line in Syria and then blinked.  Then looked the other way while Vlad annexed Crimea.  Biden’s followed suit.  His incompetency and cowardice in Afghanistan right out of the gates proved he would be no better than his buddy, Barack.

Can Taiwan vote in 2024?  Based on the last two national elections we’ll need every vote we can get.  I just wish we knew how to cheat better.
