United We Stand, Divided We fall

Powerful words oft repeated throughout history. First in the Bible: "If a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand" (Mark). Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand" (Matthew).

In March 1799, Patrick Henry, famous for his Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death speech, invoked in his last public speech. Clasping his hands and swaying unsteadily, Henry declaimed: "Let us trust God, and our better judgment to set us right hereafter. United we stand, divided we fall. Let us not split into factions which must destroy that union upon which our existence hangs."

Both Lincoln in 1848 and Churchill in 1941 reiterated the same admonition.

Our country, once called the "last best hope of mankind" and the "shining city on the hill", is being assaulted - on multiple fronts. Attacks are coordinated and relentless. Toxic educational institutions, leftwing media, professional agitators and, worst of all, self interest politicians. Oft funded by Anti-American influencers from abroad.

Not since the Civil War, which pitted North versus South, brother against brother, have we faced such divisiveness. Today's disunity is cataclysmic, far beyond political squabbling. More like epidemic...a cancer. Stage 5, I fear. Antagonism and conflict infect every fiber of our lives. Our schools, our religious institutions, our corporations, our media, our entertainment and most of all our government - all contaminated, on every level.

Some examples:

  • A Chicago politician excuses the murder of an innocent young girl saying the perpetrator may have been startled.

  • Nick Fuentes, a far-right political commentator who hates Jews say he is, ...praying the Mullahs win because Iran is fighting for the whole world and the US needs to be "finished". And we let him live here.

  • "Born in America" rocker gives speeches from the stage calling America "a reckless predator", all while selling tickets that go for a $1000 a pop. And we buy his music.

  • Daily, the LEFT insults, denigrates and blasphemes the duly elected President of the United States for doing what he was elected to do.

  • Professors nationwide, commonly funded by foreign enemies, teach students not only to discredit but to despise those who founded this country and America itself.

  • Young children are encouraged by teachers and counselors to question their own gender.

  • Parents are criticized, ostracized, even persecuted for wanting to know what their kids are being taught in school and if they begin to question their gender.

  • Elections are swayed, if not manipulated, by leftwing, anti-American media and teachers unions. PS: the very same teachers whose students scrape the bottom in literacy, math and science.

  • Foundational institutions are berated, contaminated, defiled. The courts, law enforcement, religious institutions, even the Presidency itself.

  • Congressional leaders shut down the government, openly root against our military, attack law enforcement and call for insurrection. Then cut off funding to the Secret Service and Office of Cyberterrorism in the midst of a war.

  • Professional agitators, paid by sworn America haters, are allowed to roam city streets and college campuses without impunity. All in the name of "free speech".

  • A President flings open the border to all who would cross, regardless of credentials or intentions.

  • Bedrocks of national security such as military resources, critical minerals and components, energy supply are starved while handouts to illegals and green energy boondoggles proliferate.

  • And on and on and on.

I see no end. We all knew turning this battleship around, after being so far off course, would be a herculean task. The epitome of...no pain, no gain. And we are living it today. I have little fear the President will fold his cards. I do fear, however, the American people may.

A Disturbing Tolerance for Public Disorder

On the blue subway line to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport, there were two men in one car smoking joints. Sitting in a nest of filthy bags, there was a woman whose eyes were dilated and blank. There was also a man barking into the void, shirtless, washing himself with a flour tortilla, which would disintegrate, littering the subway floor, before he took out another and began the same process.

Variations of this scene have become commonplace in America these days. And not confined to the homeless. Customers are getting served in upscale restaurants with torn jeans, wife-beater tee shirts, hoodies, flip flops and the like. Airplane travelers are similarly garbed.

In an essay written by Eli Lake he reports..."Three weeks ago, in Duluth, MN half the riders on every bus I took appeared to be mentally ill or intoxicated. The downtown Starbucks and shuttered doorways of vacated buildings all housed broken-looking people. Same in Indianapolis, El Paso, New York City, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Phoenix."

In the U.S., it is common to pass makeshift homes made of tents, cardboard, and tarps that reek of urine. Our buses, parking lots, and city streets are filthy, chaotic, and threatening. Antisocial behavior is common in almost every community regardless of size. Don't even think about trying a public restroom.

This is not "what comes with living in big cities". It is not that way in Singapore, Tokyo or Seoul.

Someone peeing on the subway is not of sound mind. It’s a sign of distress. I have long advocated that homeless (an overly broad term comprising mentally ill, drug-addicted, vagrants and, yes, truly homeless) should NOT BE ALLOWED on the street. Build housing with proper care and services. Then round them up and give them a choice. The facility or prison. This would be a much better way to spend taxpayer money than green energy. And far more compassionate.

As for allowing patrons dressed "like the homeless" to enter our restaurants, fly on our planes, travel on our subways, this should be flat out stopped. Not fair to hard working people who spend their "not unlimited" funds in search of a nice evening or vacation.

Doubt It Moved the Needle Much

...if at all. I'm talking about Trump's speech to the nation on Wednesday. Few specifics but that's to be expected. First of all, a clear end in terms of outcomes and timing is impossible to forecast, especially when you've no one with whom to deal. Second, ain't no way he's showing his hand.

Read an article that described Trump's behavior and rhetoric as psychological warfare. Called it the "Fog of Trump", meaning he keeps everyone guessing. Liberals call him erratic, even crazy. Yeah, crazy like a fox. Meanwhile he paints targets on the latest Iranian shot callers. Basically, come to the table or kaboom.

I sure hope American public opinion doesn't force the Administration to settle for defanging instead of deposing. We need a new and more reasonable regime. Not a pause so these fanatics can regroup and rearm.

Glad They Aren't In Charge of My Strategy

Amazing Trump-haters are so obtuse.

A popular epithet hurled the President's way is he should have explained to America what we were going to do - in advance. How stupid can they be? Where in military history does it show that giving the enemy a "heads up" leads to success. Here we come, get ready, be there next week! Yeah that's common sense.

It's one thing to explain a mission after the enemy blows up the twin towers. This is clearly different.

Still Not Convinced We Need Greenland?

Libtards: Trump's a megalomaniac, a dictator, a fascist. He wants to control the world. Just look he's talking about taking over Greenland.

Easy to see why. UK, France and Spain just refused to let us use their airspace in the fight with Iran.

Western Europe continues to display its irrelevance. Apparently gratitude for saving their butts in WW2 had a shelf life.

But, honestly, who really cares what Macaroon and Starmer have to say? FYI - Keir Starmer is the least popular PM in the UK since records have been kept. I doubt Trump is serious about withdrawing from NATO because there are some good guys there. Like Eastern Europe, Finland and Sweden. Willing to pull their own weight.

The rest? Let 'em fend for themselves. Let's not forget we did more to help Ukraine than all of NATO together and Russia's a helluva lot closer to them than us.

The Ukrainians are strong and courageous people. Even willing to help others while their own nation is being ravaged (drones to Arab states). Be a shame to cut them loose just to prove a point to snowflake Euros.

Tariff Update

Did inflation (pre-War) skyrocket? Eh, not really. Did US benefit? That would be a yes. Collected over $200 billion in 2025 fiscal year. Coming in even faster now. $182 billion so far after six months. Lord knows we need. Did Supreme Court throw in a monkey wrench? Unfortunately, yes. Have to see how it all plays out.

Kaboom on Wildfire State Fraud

221 healthcare and hospice providers are suspended because of fraud in Cali.

Keep an Eye on Rahm

Mentioned this before. Former Obama Chief of Staff and Chicago Mayor making lots of "moderate" noises. Says Dems are crazy for talking down to people and getting caught up in issues like boys playing girls sports.

2028 not that far away and Dems may not want but could really use a thimble full of sanity.

For the Record

My gut tells me abstention from today's polls is at an all time high. Don't know, just applying some common sense. With the pervasive division and castigation in our daily lives, best to keep your head down, doncha think?

Damn, I liked Her.

Pam Bondi has been removed AG. Thought she did a great job with Ronnie down here in FL. Still I have to applaud the President's willingness to make changes when he thinks a job can be done better. Biden fired no one but, boy oh boy, did he have a target rich selection. Starting with himself.

Sounds like Pam's downfall can be traced to mishandling of the Epstein, Comey and Letitia James matters. In the latter two, Trump wanted revenge and Pam failed to deliver. I'd be disappointed too after what was done to Trump by Biden/Garland/Smith.

Bondi was blindly loyal. When Trump said "Jump!", Pam asked, "How High?" This is not what the President really needs. Certainly he must count on the AG to implement his agenda. He must also have an AG who shoots straight when one of his directives can't or shouldn't be executed.

You Think Rubik's Cube is Difficult.

See if you can decipher the following, which is Justice Katanji-Brown's perspective on birthright citizenship.

Here's her "word salad" analogy that compares the issue to stealing a wallet in Japan. (WTF???)

"I was thinking, you know, I’m a U.S. citizen and visiting Japan and what it means is that, you know, if I steal someone’s wallet in Japan, the Japanese authorities can arrest me and prosecute me," Jackson said during Wednesday’s oral arguments.

"It’s allegiance, meaning, they can control you as a matter of law. I can also rely on them if my wallet is stolen to, you know, under Japanese law, go and prosecute the person who has stolen it. So there’s this relationship based on, even though I’m a temporary traveler, I’m just on vacation in Japan, I’m still locally owing allegiance in that sense. Is that the right way to think about it? And if so, doesn’t that explain why both temporary residents and undocumented people would have that kind of, quote-unquote, allegiance, just by virtue of being in the United States?"

Wow! We may have a worthy successor to Kamala, although AOC can't be counted out. And on the Highest Court in the land.

Deja Vu?

Anyone remember when Democrats held up creation of the Department of Homeland Security after 911. Their reason? They wanted TSA workers to be unionized. In 2022, for the first time in ages, they lost the midterms to the party of the Sitting President. My lips to God's ears.

Lost in the Shuttle?

A kind of cool thing is happening outside the gut wrenching nausea that dominates our news these days. It's called the Artemis II mission. How about giving a tip of the hat to the latest in Western civilization's magical moments?

After decades of inertia, NASA was finally given the support it needed to do something of weight. On Wednesday Artemis II, at 635 pm, was launched from Kennedy Space Center. Mission - circle the moon in preparation for a landing in 2028.

At its farthest, the four astronauts will be 250,000 miles from earth. The total journey will be 685,000 miles. They will hit 25,000 mph under 8.8 million pounds of thrust. This is further and faster than humans have ever gone before. And the first such mission in 50 years. Like I said - pretty cool.

Go Forth and Have a Blessed Easter

Today is Good Friday. The day Jesus was crucified and suffered death on a wooden cross at a place named Calvary. Nailed to that cross at 9 am he suffered ignominiously for six hours before death mercifully came. Christ suffered and died that day almost 2000 years ago to change the course of human history. To give us all a second chance.

This weekend...as we reflect on his suffering, mourn his death then celebrate his rising... should we not commit to "be better". To not denigrate his heavenly gift with our petty squabbling, greedy self absorption and power at any cost deception. As the High Priest said, that would be "blasphemy".

But Wait. In these dark times, when antipathy and alienation rule, might there be a light??

The evidence is overwhelming. Gen Z and millennials are turning to religion, to church, to God. Lord knows we need it. Question is - will it be enough to reverse our piteous spiral?
