A CME Report Card

A little bit of history. The 100 Days benchmark originated during FDR's first term as a metric on his promise to lift the US out of the Great Depression with his New Deal. The year was 1933.

The 73rd Congress passed 15 major pieces of legislation during Roosevelt’s first 100 days that established key parts of the New Deal, including:

Note - Congress PASSED. Not the President had to write executive orders and then plead with Congress to make them law. Different times. One nation under God and all that patriotism stuff.

So let's put a CME spin on the "high" and "lowlights" the first 100 Days of Trump 2.0.

Screw Ups

  1. The Signal App bungle. Gave fodder to the leftwing rag, Atlantic. Key figure, Mike Walz, Director of National Security, was lateralized over the UN Ambassador. Not exactly a swift kick. Definite screw up.

  2. Deporting MS-13 wifebeater without "due process". Bad guy but not here illegally.

  3. Tainting Canada's selection of a new PM with all the talk of making them a 51st state.

  4. Buying Palestine was always sheer nonsense.

  5. Dismantling security details for Mike Pompeo and other officials - childish retribution.

  6. And the biggest by far - Declaring Tax Armageddon instead of whacking China with tariffs but negotiating with "friends" quickly and quietly.

Home Runs

  1. Shutting Down the Massive Flow of Illegals Crossing the Border.

  2. Deporting thousands of Illegals know to be involved with Fentanyl & Human Trafficking, Gang Violence, Terrorism and other criminal acts.

  3. Dismantling the boondoggle known as USAID.

  4. Reducing Energy Regulations and Roadblocks

  5. DOGE - DOGE -DOGE. Routing out waste and fraud is proceeding forthwith.

  6. Securing Billions in pledges from corporations and countries to invest here in USA.

  7. Forcing China to abandon its control of the Panama Canal access and egress to a US company.

  8. Opening the Red Sea for business and crushing the Houthis.

  9. The systematic evisceration of DEI on all levels.

  10. Various actions to halt persecution of Jews in America - especially on college campuses.

Jury Still Out

  1. Resolution of Tariff War and impact on trade, markets, investment. What deals will be made?

  2. Dealing forcefully and sustainable with the clear and present danger - China.

  3. Getting the Euros to pull their weight.

  4. Sorting out the Ukraine - Russia - NATO snafu.

  5. Same with Iran - Hamas -Hezbollah.

  6. Cleaning up American Education. Stopping Elite Unis from robbing taxpayers to pollute the minds of students, foster anti-American ideology and facilitate foreign intervention.

Donald Trump made a boatload of promises to fix the multitudinous problems America faced after four year of vacuous leadership, deception and malfeasance. To even the most naive, we were in trouble. Unless you have been asleep for five years, it was crystal that turning this battleship around would be a herculean task. One that definitely was not for the fainthearted as it would involve significant hardship, sacrifice and pain.

President Trump, as all acknowledge, is a mercurial, abrasive "doer". But a doer he is. Everyday he works to live up to his Promises Made - Promises Kept motto. The old saying you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs is most apt. I, for one, still feel strongly, when the smoke finally does clear, we will be much better off and Trump 2.0 will prove a consequential presidency. Provided the Republicans in Congress can screw their courage to the sticking post and codify his policies with legislation. I firmly believe Trump is, above all else, a realist and an American. Moreover he is thick-skinned. When policies or people aren't getting the job done, he course corrects, regardless of the vicious "I told you so" diatribes LSM and leftwing Dems will hurl his way.

As for the Democrats, there is no hope. They salivate and party at every Trump hiccup, while offering NOTHING of their own. 110% of their energy is directed toward obfuscation. Their solutions? 24 hour filibusters, perching on the Capitol steps to protest and enlisting leftwing Judges to block every move. This is what they contribute because this is who they are. If, God forbid, they win back the House, you can take it to the bank another round of impeachments will be served up.

Stay strong.

Could Not Resist...

Last week I was chided by a long time "friend" about the cock up Trump is making of things. She was once a subscriber to CME, but (so far) the only one who unsubscribed because "she couldn't disagree" more with the opinions set forth herein.

In her recent email she postulated that the world's leading financial experts ALL think that President's Trumps tariff actions are an unmitigated disaster. She stated that Trump was a criminal and should be put in jail. I could not resist a reply, which follows. It restates many things of which CME readers are well aware so feel free to fast forward.

Here's the reply...

The problem with liberals is they never attack conservative ideas.  Only conservatives themselves.  It is curious to hear you (my ex-subscriber) lambast President Trump after the guy you “loved” was fired by his own party and replaced by “word salad”.

When the Biden "Effect" was shown the door by his own party after years of claiming he was “sharp as tack” and then his anointed cutout, Clueless Kamala, lost not only the electoral college and every key swing state, but also the popular vote, it was a clarion call – an unmistakable plea.  Despite all of Trump’s unlikeable traits, despite four years of the Biden DOJ trying to put him in jail, Americans chose him resoundingly.

Ask yourself why.

Perhaps it is because…

1.      Millions of illegals crossing our borders bringing in fentanyl, criminality, gang members and wannabe terrorists, not to mention overrunning our cities, our hospitals, our schools and costing taxpayers billions is not a good thing.  It is not sustainable.  And don’t blame this on Republicans.  They passed a bill three years earlier that Biden rejected.

2.      Forsaking control of our most important national asset, energy security, and seceding it to sworn enemies in the interest of green energy boondoggles to appease the Woke Left and enrich Biden donors is not a good thing.

3.      Starving our military and driving down its sanctity to the point where recruitment minimums can’t be met is not a good thing.

4.      Teaching that Police are bad and should be defunded.  Allowing men to smash volleyballs into young girl’s faces causing TBI is okay are not good things.

5.      Being cheated by our allies for decades after we rescued them in WW2 and expecting Americans to continue paying the bill for their defense is not a good thing.

6.      Having American industries and jobs stolen by colossally unfair competition from abroad, especially by our sworn enemy, China, is not a good thing.  Pretty hard for American industry to compete when tariffs of 200% or higher are imposed on our exports.  Pretty hard for American workers to compete when Chinese factory workers are paid $2.00 a day and the Communist Party backstops all companies who operate at a loss.  Why continue subsidizing such unfair advantages?

7.      Polluting our schools, our companies, our government, indeed our entire society with a philosophy of entitlement and “equity” is not a good thing.  It destroys meritocracy, motivation, ambition and pocketbooks.  In the end, performance deteriorates, and the fabric of America is destroyed. Try brain surgery with someone who actually flunked out of med school but was graduated anyway.

One can always find a passel of leftwing economists who are happy to go on about how bad tariffs will be.  If they are so bad, why does the rest of the world have tariffs that dwarf ours?  Why do China, Vietnam, Cambodia etc. all run trade surpluses?

Answer – because we are suckers and elect spineless leaders who run for office primarily to enrich themselves.  And because we bitch and moan (especially the stock markets and financial CEOs) when it hurts to reset the table.  Liberals and the Elites never buy into “no pain, no gain”.  Not when it hurts their portfolios.

It’s like all those who are espouse open borders and boundless compassion for lawbreaking illegals.  Except when those same illegals start overrunning their cities, their towns, their compounds, their hospitals, their EDs, their courts, jails, supermarkets and schools.  God bless his soul, but our recently deceased Pope used to complain all the time about using walls to keep out illegals.  Did he never walk outside and look at Vatican City?  Did he have those walls taken down?  Or the ones around the Pelosi or Obama compounds?

The Trump barrage of tariffs is all part of the “deal”.  Get other nations to play fair.  Give our industries and workers a level playing field.  He must show other nations, especially China, we are serious.  You see China believes Americans are suckers and will overthrow any leaders who causes the least amount of hardship.

Did Trump piss off a few important people in taking these actions? You bet. But he made it clear that was the plan and the voters decided.

In parting I wish you a nice weekend. While I do appreciate your counsel on “other” matters, I would advise you not to expect Trump to be going to jail any time soon.  You see there are no cells available at the moment.  They are being reserved for the Biden Crime Family.

Remember When?

“2016 Was the Year White Liberals Realized How Unjust, Racist, and Sexist America Is.”

This is how liberal columnists, LSM and basically all Democrats and many RINOs viewed Donald Trump's first election as President.

This is the way Obama and the left look at this country. They think it’s unjust. It is immoral from the days of its founding, because it was founded as a racist and sexist and homophobic country. It is unjust and they, the left, need to cut it down to size. We’re not a deserving superpower. We’re never a legitimate superpower because we acquired our superpower status by virtue of stealing from the rest of the world or by oppressing it. This is what the Left says it believes as they try to remake America for their enrichment.

LSM pundits proclaimed...The sense of disillusionment white American liberals woke up with on Nov. 9 (2016) was powerful enough to taint the entire year with a sense of doom. So many illusions were shattered by the election of Donald Trump: about the media, polling, the Democrats’ vaunted ground game, the fundamental character of our fellow citizens, the viability of the American experiment.

After Trump’s election, it is more or less impossible to believe that we are making meaningful progress. White liberals who woke up horrified on Nov. 9 weren’t horrified because the world had suddenly changed — we were horrified because the scales had finally fallen from our eyes, and we could at least see our unjust, racist, sexist country for what it is.”

Rush Limbaugh had been telling American this for as long as he'd been sitting here behind Golden EIB Microphone.

That’s how Liberals view America. For the eight years of Obama they firmly believed they had arrived. They thought they had overcome. They thought they had finally put the founding of this country behind them and we were on the way to transforming this country into a more just and fair society, which it never has been.

And then along comes the 2016 campaign and Trump wins, and suddenly they felt like everything was an illusion. The hatred was palpable. At the core of all this divisiveness was the anointed one - Barack Hussein Obama. He even had the hubris to say, “You know what? If I were on the ballot third time, I would have won. I could have beat Trump. Hope and change would have beat Trump.” As though Hilary was an afterthought. A stand in. She was eight years of Obama on the ballot and she lost to a stone outsider who never even ran for dogcatcher.

Just like Word Salad was the Biden presidency on the ticket. And we know what happened there.

As Yogi would say...it's deja vu all over again. Except the hate from the left is even stronger but, thank God, the left is even weaker and way way smaller. For the time being at least.

Anybody Know How...

I can remove NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN and MSNBC from my Hotwire package?

Headline: ABC, NBC and CBS slap Trump with 92% negative coverage as 100th day of second term approaches, study finds

Their profound lack of objectivity, pervasive misinformation and, too often, outright lies do not deserve a position on American television guides. I can tell you they sure aren't getting any clicks from me. Not one - not ever. Given how LSM viewership is tanking, apparently plenty of like-minded Americans are giving them a miss as well.

If you can believe it their coverage is even more lopsided than eight years ago despite the fact that almost every single thing the Administration is doing was promised (very clearly) during the campaign and most poll high on what America wants fixed. Honestly, I can (almost) understand why socialist governments control the Press - for converse reasons, of course.

Right across the Street (Or Straits to be more accurate)

China now has a billion dollar footprint in the Bahamas.

China has invested heavily in the Bahamas through a range of high-profile projects, including a $40 million grant for a national stadium, a $3 billion mega-port in Freeport, and $40 million for the North Abaco Port and Little Abaco Bridge. Additionally, China EXIM Bank provided over $54 million in loans to construct a four-lane highway and nearly $3 billion to finance the development of the Baha Mar Resort.

The Chinese-controlled British Colonial Hotel in Nassau, Bahamas owned by Chou Tai Fook Enterprises is located directly across from the U.S. Embassy, a convenient post for intelligence gathering on U.S. personnel. "It doesn’t take a lot of imagination to think that additional electronics were put in there with the purpose and the task of keeping an eye not only on the U.S. Embassy itself, but also U.S. Embassy visitors." USN Rear Admiral Peter Brown confirmed.

Man oh man, they have a lotta Yuan to spread around. I guess when you tariff the living bejesus out of US imports and pay your own people peanuts it adds up quick. Then you can go and buy yourself a nice portfolio of third world countries.

Government Gangsters continued...

The first component of the Deep State that Kash Patel targets in his book is the "rotten to its core" Department of Justice.

First among the DS travesties he exposes (not news to CME subscribers) is Selective Prosecutions. He cites:

  • Steve Bannon who was put in jail basically because he wouldn't go along with the January 6th Committee findings.

  • Other Trump allies who were prosecuted including Trump himself.

  • Not to mention the pointless Mueller investigation and the millions it cost taxpayers.

  • Or when Stephen Colbert's staffers were given a pass when caught trespassing at the Capitol. The same conduct that got many January 6th protestors jailed (I'm not ignoring the fact that a few Jan 6 participants deserved to be prosecuted for acts of violence).

  • While, conversely, the Obama and Biden DOJs refused to touch CIA Chief Brennan who outright lied to Congress about CIA spying on Congress staffers.

  • Or DNI head Clapper who also lied to Congress about NSA programs to collect data on Americans.

  • Or Hilary who lied about her private server and classified emails kept at home.

  • Or the 51 former intelligence officials (including Brennan and Clapper) who signed a letter saying the Hunter Laptop incident was "classic" Russian disinformation despite the fact that not one actually looked at the contents of the laptop itself. Even the NYT later refuted.

  • Or Biden himself who swore multiple times he was not involved with Hunter's influence peddling schemes and never met any of Hunter's foreign cronies.

  • Or when the Obama DOJ said, in their opinion, the Civil Rights Act demanded that schools allow men into girl's bathrooms. Wow.

A not insignificant factor in the volume of biased court decisions can be traced to the fact they are decided in Washington, DC courts. Polls show 92% of DC residents voted for Biden and 6% for Trump in 2016.

Does Trump Really Deserve All the Credit?

Given that Vlad finally agreed to a ceasefire (albeit a 3 day one) starting on my birthday?

Even in Politics Merit (occasionally) Matters.

State Senator, Jason Pizzo, head of the Florida Democrat Party just resigned calling the Democratic party in Florida - dead, filled with hacks.

It is useful to note the Democrats have not had a FL Governor since 1994. That would be - uh - 30 years.

Here's a rundown of the swing in registered voters.

2012 - Democrat voters outnumbered Reregistered Republican by 560,000 votes.

2026 - The Dem margin was down to 330,000 more.

2020 - Dems edge was only 97,000.

And...in 2024, Republicans voters outnumbered Dem votes by (get this) 1.125 million!

Leadership and performance do eventually count. At least in the Sunshine State. CA, NY, IL, MA - take heed.

Random Talking Points

For anyone who buys the line that Iran is hell bent on acquiring nuclear capability to provide energy security for its citizenry, consider the following. This is one of the most oil-rich countries on earth. What do they need nuclear power for? Besides...only 5% uranium enrichment is needed for nuclear power and only 20% for medical use. But 90% is needed for nuclear weapons. Guess which one Iran is acquiring.

Besides the killing of American soldiers and Afghan citizens and leaving behind millions in US military equipment and a billion dollar airbase, guess what else happened after the catastrophic, inept Biden withdrawal? China moved in and now controls a $1 billion rare earths foothold in the country.

Trump is not only the Prez to clean house. Obama fired 197 officers from the US Military during his tenure. In most cases, no reason was given.

Recent actions by the Administration to put a stop to the billions in US taxpayer money flowing to universities who say thanks by skimming off the top, funding anti-American programs and teaching useless stuff, while only 50% graduate on time, have led to bloodcurdling screams of outrage. Elite unis are alleging people will die of cancer because funding is curtailed. They point to inevitable cutbacks in math and science. But, do you ever hear them mention cutbacks in DEI or all those majors that equip students for a lifetime of living in Mom and Dad's basement? Not hardly.
