Now They're Flying Immigrants in.

'They're not telling anybody'
Mayor Eric Adams keeps blaming Texas Gov. Greg Abbott for the city’s migrant crisis, which has hoovered up millions in taxpayer resources.
In the latest broadside, Adams dared Abbott to spend a night in a NYC migrant shelter, while the no-thanks Abbot fired back that Adams’s sanctuary city policies were "aiding and abetting" the border disaster.
Some 37,000 of New York’s estimated 150,000 migrants — or 25% — were bused from Texas.
But there’s another number, comparable to that, that Adams should blame on another politician: Joe Biden.
A new report, from the Center for Immigration Studies, finds that the Department of Homeland Security secretly has okayed the flights of some 33,000 illegal immigrants directly to the New York region from foreign airports. That’s 22% of the city’s migrant influx.
One of Biden’s flying immigrants was a Haitian man, Pierre Lucard Emile, who was recently accused of raping a developmentally disabled teen girl. The administration reportedly authorized him to fly directly from Haiti into John F. Kennedy International Airport as part of the immigrant flights program.
Over 25 percent of New York’s estimated migrants are bussed from Texas.
Biden is, of course, far more responsible than Abbott for New York’s troubles because he’s doing nothing to enforce border laws in the first place, thus flooding Texas and other southern states with unsustainable numbers of illegal immigrants.
Yet Adams gives Biden a total a pass on the flights, which Biden could shut down with a phone call, preferring to continue pretending that the Republican Abbott is the cause of Gotham’s problems.
DHS reports that it has approved the flights of more than 386,000 immigrants directly from foreign airports into the U.S. since launching the program without Congressional authorization in January 2023.
The flights were intended mainly for Cuban, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans but since expanded to five other nationalities. It is alternatively referred to as the "CHNV Program" or the "Advanced Travel Authorization Program." Under it, U.S.-based "sponsors" apply for air travel permission on behalf of aspiring illegal border crossers in other countries who provide information via an online program and mobile cell phone app called CBP-One.
Once Biden’s U.S. Customs and Border Protection approves their applications, the aspiring illegal border crossers arrange for their own flights by commercial air into a government-approved U.S. international airport, and U.S. customs inspectors process them into the country.
A separate twin program has brought in some 420,000 more from 100 countries at eight land ports over the past year.
Both programs are predicated on a legally challenged mass use of an authority in the Immigration and Nationality Act that allows a president to grant temporary "humanitarian parole" into the country of immigrants in emergency situations on a "case by case" basis.
But this administration has applied this highly restricted "case-by-case" parole authority to far greater numbers of foreigners than any other before, more than a combined 800,000 by both land and airports paroles, to reduce the optics of thousands illegally crossing the land border at once.
The administration has not coordinated this effort with Adams or other big-city mayors, nor with taxpayers who have to shoulder the costs of hundreds of thousands of people just showing up. Biden has hid where the illegal immigrants are being flown and in what numbers. The administration was so determined to keep this information from the public that it denied a 2023 Center for Immigration Studies Freedom of Information Act request for it.
In fact, the administration is so bent on obfuscating the basic program details that its monthly border statistics report presents this section as a strange unidentified orphan, amorphously titling it as only "CHNV Program" and not once mentioning potentially interest-flagging immigrant "flights" or "air travel" or "airports."
Public records show that Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis’ Florida is by far the biggest initial landing zone in the country with 326,000 through February first showing up to that state’s many international airports.
"It is secret because they’re not telling anybody. They don’t tell us anytime somebody comes in," DeSantis said in an April 4 press conference. "They don’t give us any information on it. They are not coordinating with the state government at all. If they throw six people on a commercial flight coming from a foreign country, there’s no acknowledgment at all to state or local authorities. That’s just a fact."
We knew it was bad…
But the facts are rolling in. Allowing our kids to be glued to their smartphones from pre-pubescent ages onward is a BAD THING.
As is documented, I became a Dad at the ripe old age of 52. I was insistent from the first time my son owned an iPhone (age 10?) that certain usage parameters must apply. Like never, ever at the dinner table. And, using it in class or mass was not even a consideration.
My rules were based on the simple fact that using this device was insulting to those with whom one was dining, learning or praying. Not more.
Well, turns out, there’s much bigger reasons for watching how much our kids use these ubiquitous devices.
As reported previously, my favorite podcast is Free Expression featuring Gerry Baker, former Editor in Chief of the WSJ. I just think he has the best guests. Not the same ones over and again.
In his April 10 podcast he explored the impact of smartphones on our children.
“Studies, and some of us would say, well-worn parental experience have shown that many teenagers and even younger children spend hours a day on their phones scrolling endlessly through images and stories, propelled their way through algorithms, specifically designed by tech companies to maximize engagement. Claims about the effect on the mental health of young people of all this activity are compelling. In the last decade, there's been a startling increase in the number of teens, especially girls reporting feelings of loneliness and social alienation, as well as record numbers of diagnoses of depression, anxiety, and other mental illnesses among adolescents in particular.
Jonathan Haidt is professor of psychology at New York University and one of our most prominent students of and commentators on the various pathologies of 21st century Western society, writing a series of books over the last 10, 15 years. Haidt tracked how social conditions, practices, and ideas have transformed our modern behavior, not always for the better. In his 2018 work, The Coddling of the American Mind co-authored with Greg Lukianoff, he documented how student demands to be protected from supposedly harmful speech and so-called microaggressions as well as many other things, were creating a culture of intolerance on university campuses. In his latest book, the Anxious Generation, how the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness, professor Haidt takes on the technology and social media companies and the damage he says they're causing to the minds of young people. And he lays out what we should do to halt and reverse the slide.”
Highlights
· Kids report spending time online of 5 hours a day on social media and another 3 to 4 on other stuff. Nine in total.
· Consequences include: 1) Lost sleep; 2) Reduced human interactions (spending time talking to, playing with and interacting with friends is down by 50% since 2012); 3) Cognitive fragmentation (significantly lower attention spans and focus); 4) Addiction (For boys it’s video games and porn. For girls, social media).
· As a result, rates of anxiety, depression and suicide are up 50-100% for boys in the last 6 years. Rates for girls are even higher. And this is NOT just in the US.
Author recommends four steps:
1. Stop Tik Tok.
2. No smartphones until 16 (yeah, right!)
3. Phone free schools – lock away.
4. Send kids out for mandatory play with other kids.
I know, I know. These solutions (especially #2) sound preposterous. But ask yourself. If Publix sold a cereal or fruit juice proven to accelerate depression and increase suicide, would you buy it just because your kid insisted?
Even Whoopi couldn’t keep a straight face.
The View faces a conundrum as host, Sunny Host-in, claims the Eclipse and Cicadas were caused by Climate Change. So, which was it? Climate Change or Donald Trump?
I remember BIG!
Famous golfer Chi Chi Rodriguez when asked about his habit of inflating the truth is reported to have replied, “I don’t exaggerate, I just remember big.”
But this is ridiculous.
In Wisconsin this week while bragging about sending another barrel of taxpayer dollars to forgive student debt ($7.4 billion), Biden claimed for the umpteenth time that he was the first in the Biden family to go to college. Errr…not true.
Goes along with his many other prevarications, like claiming…
To have been shot down and arrested in South Africa by Al Queda.
Various interactions with the Amtrak conductor who died years before.
Teaching Political Theory at Penn when he never taught a semester.
Graduating in the top half of his Law School class. He graduated 76 of 85 at Syracuse (not Harvard or Yale).
His Uncle Bosie being eaten by cannibals.
This guy makes both Chi Chi and Pinocchio look like neophytes.
PLEASE don’t confuse me with the facts.
Apparently, Biden’s Go Green plan ain’t catching fire. While Biden spends his days telling us what we can and cannot buy, the message is falling flat. Take EV’s, which Larry Kudlow speculates might become the new Edsel (for those of you too young to remember, look it up.)
Recent Gallup Poll shows:
Those who might consider buying an EV have gone from 43% down to 35% in the last year.
Those who would seriously consider buying an EV down from 12% to 9%.
Those who would NEVER buy one UP from 41% to 48%.
You know who believes those results more than anyone? The recently terminated CEO of Hertz who was disgraced after his decision to convert his rental cart fleet to EVs resulted in the biggest quarterly loss since 2020. Hertz is now selling 20,000 of them.
More coming on EVs in the next report.
Even Obama’s Chief Strategist is tearing his hair out.
David Axelrod, Obama’s chief campaign strategist, said, “He’s driving me crazy!” He is imploring Biden to stop talking about Bidenomics and adopt Bill Clinton’s strategy. “I feel your pain”.
I guess when that’s all you have left to offer?
Axelrod went on to directly question whether it’s wise for Biden to stay in the race.
Please, pretty please, Joe, don’t leave unless you give way to Kamala or Gavin.
In Farsi, Don’t means Do!
For months we have been lamenting Joe Biden’s feckless foreign policy. Following on his buddy Obama’s red line default, Biden has avoided leadership at all costs. Mostly to appease Leftist Progressives and avoid a war that could douse his reelection chances. Think - Afghanistan, Russia-Ukraine, a plethora of China-Iran proxies including Hamas, Houthis and Hezbollah.
It is now crystal clear that upon being notified in advance of Iran’s massive aerial attack on Israel, the Turks advised the US to which Biden replied, Ok, but “within certain limits”. Reminds of when he assured Putin “minor incursions” into Ukraine would trigger only a “muted” response from the West (January 2022). Meanwhile $10 billion in US funds remain available to Iran thanks to Biden’s last attempt to buy off. But no worries. Iran pinky swore not to use for military purposes.
Are you kidding?
I did learn something. In Farsi, “Don’t!” means “Do!”. After being forewarned that a direct attack by Iran on Israel was coming, Biden was asked what he had to say. Forcefully, he declared, “Don’t”. Next day – 300 warheads.
Two thoughts come to mind. First, I wouldn’t want to live in Taiwan. Second, if China and Russian aren’t motivated to rig 2024 elections to keep this clown in the WH, they will never be.
Another one for the Tale of Tape.
