Dear Bill,
As soon the hallowed tradition of New Year’s resolutions will be upon us again, I have a few suggestions.
First resolution - Defund Education. Instead of defunding the police whom, more than ever, we need fully armed and motivated, how about we defund education?
Start with the teachers’ unions who are more concerned with time off than the crap they teach our kids when parents aren’t looking. Does anybody care that thousands of kids aren’t proficient in math or reading?
Then defund the universities. The ones who condone rallies for terrorist animals like Hamas, insult federal judges when they come to speak and hire liberal professors at a rate of 12 to 1 over conservatives. Some kind of fair and balanced that is. Between grants for research which they get to keep and tax breaks on capital gains, universities live high on the hog off taxpayer backs. I’m talking billions. After the testimony of Presidents from Penn, Harvard and MIT before Congress there should be no doubt our prestige universities are adrift without an oar. Much better (and safer) to defund education than law enforcement, whose importance is proved more every day.
Second resolution. In a play on the words of our greatest President since Lincoln, I say, “Put Up that Wall, Mr. Biden”.
Estimates pegged illegal aliens hiding in the US at 10.6 million in 2017 after Trump reversed many of Obama’s practices and started building the “wall”. Thanks to Sleepy we are up to 17 million now. A 50% increase. More frightening is the 2-3 million a year now sneaking in. Sneaking in? Hell, they just walk in and we put them on buses. Now even well dressed Chinese with roller bags are lining up to come in. I’m sure they mean well. Put Up that Wall, Mr. Biden. And not just a few miles. The whole damn border.
Third - Terrorist Lives Can’t Matter.
Those who randomly maim and murder innocents to punish opposing views must be obliterated. They cannot be excused, given the benefit of the doubt, feted at rallies or sent pallet loads of money. They must be excised from the earth with such fury that imitators scurry for cover. At this point in American history, it is abundantly clear that Black Lives Matter. We all agree they certainly do. Let’s make sure terrorists are given neither shelter or quarter in any form.
Last resolution - Worst President Ever. Nationwide, our schools happily teach our young how despicable the founding fathers were and that America was build on the backs of slavery. How about they teach what actually went on during the reign of that sanctimonious hypocrite, Barack Hussein Obama. The President who promised transparency, unification, integrity, etc.
Let’s teach the truth about what went on during his rule.
For example, the long litany of foreign policy screwups from Syria to Libya, from Crimea to Iran, from ISIS (remember “they’re the JV”?) to resurgent Russia (remember when he chastised Romney?). We lost more lives in Afghanistan during Obama than all the rest and he takes a victory lap when Special Forces take out the by that time feckless OBL. During Obama’s presidency confidence in our ability to handle terrorism fell to the lowest levels since 9/11 (Gallup)
Then the economy. Obama went on 60 Minutes and proclaimed that he figured he was the 4th Best President in history. He was 4th in something. His economic recovery after a recession was the 4th worst ever. Only President who, after a recession, never had a quarter where GDP increased by 3%. Not even one. And don’t forget Obamacare. Even Pocahontas now admits that was a disaster.
But, most importantly of all, it was the presidency of Barack Obama that began the systematic destruction of American culture. Every individual or organization, especially the Republican party, who disagreed or disapproved of Obama’s wishes was branded an Anti-American racist. Meanwhile, scope was given regularly to such noteworthy causes as Black Lives Matter, Antifa, Hamas, Hezbollah, the Mullahs in Iran, Defund the Police.
Pew Research reported that the % of Americans viewing race relations as “good” outnumbered those regarding as them as bad every year from 2000 to 2014. The highest margin of favorability was right after Obama took office in 2009. By 2015, the number of Americans viewing race relations as “bad” outnumbered those seeing them as good for the first time in 15 years. It continued that way until Obama left office. Can someone explain how the first Afro American president presides over such a decline in perceived race relations? That can only happen on purpose, right?
Maybe the greatest indication of the divisiveness sewn by the 42nd President of the United States was the absurd lack of agreement between Republicans and Democrats. On virtually all issues, 80+ % of Democrats approved of Obama’s policies. While only 15% of Republicans did.
Regardless of the issue. How is a country to be governed, solve its problems or make any progress whatsoever when the ruling parties are in such abject disagreement on virtually every issue? Is not the leader somehow responsible for building the consensus necessary to forge ahead? If we believe our kids should be taught the truth about American history, isn’t the Obama presidency a relevant chapter?
I will conclude by offering another resolution for Mr. Biden to consider. Instead of preaching to the wealthy to pay their fair share, maybe you should tell your son to.
Sincerely,
George still from Florida
