Venezuela - Let's Break It Down
As well chronicled CME is a strong supporter of President Trump and the actions/accomplishments of his Administration thus far. Trump has a mission and it's no secret. Do everything in his power (and, hopefully, within the law) to make things better for America and its citizens. No holds barred. No worrying about pushback or carping from the opposition.
His latest action, invading Venezuela and capturing its President, is the latest - he didn't really do that, did he? Ranks right up there with sending the Guard into DC and bombing the bejesus out of Iran's nuclear. Ostensibly the basis for this intervention was to stop the Maduro regime from harboring drug traffickers who were sending illegal, often fatal drugs into the US by boatload. In other words, a law enforcement action.
We both know Trump wanted to rid Venezuela, once a wealthy nation with a motherload of oil resreves and once our ally, of this pernicious dictator who has ruined a country that was one of the wealthiest on earth. Maduro intentionally released hundreds of Aragua de Tren murderers and drug dealers who ended up on US soil. The disintigration of Venezuela also fueled thousands of non criminals to cross our borders illegally.
God fearing, patriotic Venezuelans worldwide are cheering Trump's action. Do some oppose the Maduro extradition?
For sure. You are outraged if you are:
On Maduro's payroll
CRINK
Every Democrat not named Fetterman
A fan of corrupt dictators (two "kings" in a row)
A 16-22 year old eager to switch out their keffiyeh for a sombrero,
Just flat out hate Trump no matter what.
Face it - Cancer would be a "victim" if Trump cured it.
Russia has weighed in. They called the action...a US act of "unprovoked aggression". That's Noah talking about the flood. What a joke. Let's not forget that Maria Machado, the presidential candidate and leader of Maduro's opposition now in hiding, was awarded the Nobel peace prize for her efforts to protect her country.
The world can't stop talking about it. While Venezuelans everywhere are cheering, Liberals are aghast. Once again...Trump is destroying democracy, the rule of law, the constitution. Yaddy, yaddy. Let me repeat...God fearing, country loving Venezuelans are cheering Trump's name in the streets.
Leftwing Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy is a great example of this blue blood hypocrisy. In 2019, he BLASTED Trump for not ousting Maduro. Now he's claiming "no one is above the law". Schumer stood on the Senate floor and banged his fist demanding Trump do something about Maduro - just a short five years ago.
A major beef of the Dems is that Trump didn't consult with them and share the plan to arrest Maduro. What are these clowns smoking? Share? What - so it's on CNN 15 minutes after?
There is one thing, however, that irks me.
Does Donald have to make everything so difficult? Taunting his opponents and teeing up outrage from all who hate his guts? At every turn?
In the immediate aftermath, Marco Rubio did everything in his power to emphasize that the extradition was a "law enforcement action" designed to take a drug dealer out of play. But, Trump couldn't stick to the script. Opting for the grandiose, Trump just couldn't resist launching one of his patented "goes on forever" addresses declaring he's not afraid to take over and run Venezuela until they elect a proper leader. Can anybody spell - nation building?
Result? Those chafing to litigate and impeach have their opening. These actions will, no doubt, end up in court and be debated in Congress. They'll twist the words and we'll have January 6th all over again. Why does this President have to make everything so damned difficult? Why does he give his haters fat pitches down the middle every time? If he cut his every speech down by 60% we'd all be better off.
Oh, and let's not forget, our track record at converting dictator-run, drug dealing nations to democracies kinda sucks. Hopefully Venezuela remembers its roots.
One last thought. Who's next? Cuba? Iran?
Saw a funny cartoon.
Picture of Obama talking on the phone to the head Mullah in Iran - Obama says, "Let's negotiate. Mullah says, I will blow shit up!"
Next Biden on the phone to same Mullah - Biden says, "Let's negotiate." Mullah says, "I will blow shit up."
Finally, picture of Trump on phone to Mullah - Trump says, "I will blow shit up." Mullah says, "Let's negotiate."
Pardon my French but oh so true.
Guess who doesn't want our help rooting out their drug cartels? Hint - just a little south of here.
Supreme Leader on the Ropes?
Let's break this one down too. History shows overthrowing the Mullahs in Iran is no easy task. Here's my understanding...
In 1979, the Islamic Revolution overthrew the Shah, which has turned out to be a really bad day for all Iranians except the Mullahs and the Islamic Revolutionary National Guard (Supreme Leader's thugs). US President at the time? Jimmy Carter (Democrat). Yes, that Jimmy Carter. Sand in the helicopters Jimmy Carter. #2 ATW. Y
In the late 90's an attempt by Iranian citizens to overthrow the regime was crushed brutally. US President - Bill Clinton (Democrat). Then another attempt called the Green Movement failed miserably. US President at the time - Barack Obama (Democrat). And the most recent (until now) occurred in 2022 when a young woman was murdered which triggered widespread protests that, once again, were put down brutally. US President at the time - Joe Biden (Democrat).
Notice a common denominator? Spineless US leadership.
Experts suggest this latest uprising is different in a couple of ways. First, conditions in Iran are worse than ever. Water shortages. Electricity outages. Second, the uprising is being led by the merchant class. The last time the merchant class played a large role was the uprising that overthrew the Shah. Not the poor, the indigent. Third, Iran can no longer threaten nuclear retaliation. And last, but no means least, the big guy is in office in the US.
So what can America do short of taking out the Supreme Leader directly? A few things. Give $$$ to support the resistance. Celebrate its heroes and EMPHATICALLY publicize the brutal acts of Khamenei government. Not just on FOX. Use cyber tools to interrupt government messaging and logistics. Equip the opposition with internet access (hear me Elon?).
After 40 Years - Enough
Professor James Hankins has left Harvard after 40 years. He actually resigned in 2021 but honored his four-year "notice" period.
His reason? Disgusted and broken hearted by Harvard's destructive anti-merit DEI policies.
The straw that broke the good professor's back?
When the admissions committee told him that a brilliantly qualified white student was denied admission to Hankins' graduate program because "admitting a white student was not happening this year."
Hankins, who taught history since 1985, explained in his resignation letter...
"When you have cultural elites or professors who insist and instruct young people that their culture is not worthy of preservation, that their race is something to be apologetic over, that their history is not worth scholarship, then, of course, those young people, particularly young men, will become disillusioned and disassociated with the society they're meant to be interacting with,"
Well said, well done. Who suffers? Why, of course, the students losing the counsel of this wise, uncompromised man.
Italy PM Follows Trump/Reagan Playbook
In 2022, when Giorgia Meloni took office as Prime Minister, Italy was not in good shape. Unemployment was nearly 8% and inflation was 12%. A mess even by Biden standards. Uncontrolled illegal immigration was at the root.
Today unemployment is down to 6% and inflation is 1.2%. Italy is healthier than France or Germany.
How? Ms. Meloni is a Trumper.
Maybe next she can help reform the EU just like Trump is doing with NATO.
A Cruel Twist
Reportedly Sleepy is in for a historically large pension. Does he really need that after the millions Hunter scammed for him?
Think Tech is a Only Good Career?
A Japanese Sushi chain just paid $3,200,000 for a 536 pound bluefin tuna at the famed Japanese New Year Fish
Auction. I once caught a 508 pound Bluefin. Brought it into the dock in Bimini where the locals whacked it up with a machete and took pieces home for dinner. Oh well.
Another AI Thought
Without shared morals, effective regulation of AI will prove impossible I'm afraid.
How Did the LSM Go So Far Left?
A myriad of reasons for sure. But all pale in comparison to TDS. In the best of times, the media was left center. That was assured by the schools they attended. The pendulum really began to swing left with Clinton. It accelerated with the divisiveness of Barack Obama and swung into warp speed when foregone successor, Hilarious, got whipped by Donald J. Trump. Biden, despite promising moderation, poured gasoline on the final immolation of journalistic integrity. Or the auto pen did.
Let's be honest. Nothing, no one has ever infuriated liberals like The Donald. Makes Dubya seem like one of them.
Back in the good old days, when leviathans like Walter Cronkite, Edward R. Murrow and Huntley/Brinkley ruled the airwaves, process mattered. Editorial process. Facts were checked and presented untwisted, sources were verified and crosschecked, personal opinions were held in check. As Sergeant Joe Friday used to say...Just the facts, Ma'am.
Today process is all but forgotten. To the LSM, the truth could hardly be less important. Every event is a platform to "Get Trump".
Journalism is no longer process-driven. Advocacy rules. The LSM media has never met a fact it can't twist into an Anti-Trump message. Who really cares about the facts or fairness anyway? We have to get that SOB out of the White House - whatever it takes. Truth be damned. America be damned.
Prime example. Maduro has released murderers, child molesters and drug traffickers from his prisons and sent them to us. He finances his regime by allowing boatloads of deadly drugs to flow from his shores directly to ours. He has bankrupted Venezuela and driven thousands to cross into the US illegally. All this, yet all the Liberals cry about is did Trump get proper permission. Over and over again they chant...nobody is above the law.. Except in Minnesota. Or California. Or NY. Or Illinois.
For the record, international law might just be on Trump's side. Under UN Charter Article 2(4), it is permissible to intervene when the attacked government consents. Since virtually NO governments including Biden's, France, Canada, Italy, Argentina and dozens of others RECOGNIZE Maduro as the legitimate head of Venezuela, it seems all systems are go to remove this drug dealing thug.
CBS News has a New Anchor
We've reported before on the new head of CBS News, Bari Weiss. Ms. Weiss has publicly declared her intention to win back public trust as CBS mires in almost last place (Of course, CNN is last). New anchor, Tony Dokoupil, issued a promise to viewers before his debut Monday night. He would report for the viewers. Not the politicians, not the corporations. If he made a mistake he'd fess up and correct it.
Then Tony debuted on Monday night.
Guess what happened. All kind of technical difficulties, flubs and flops. Guess the LSM Gods didn't care for Tony's plan. No surprise. Nowhere is the Deep State deeper than in the LSM.
More from Our Somali Friends
Somalia’s permanent representative to the United Nations – get this, now serving as president of the U.N. Security Council – has strong ties to an Ohio home healthcare agency previously punished for fraud.
Deputy HHS Secretary Jim O’Neill confirmed "that Ambassador Abukar Dahir Osman, Permanent Representative of Somalia to the UN and President of the Security Council, is in fact associated with Progressive Health Care Services, a home health agency in Cincinnati."
Ambassador Osman was a healthcare administrator in Ohio. There is another healthcare company in the same suite as his with a different name, and multiple others at the same address, all with Somali names.
Who ever knew these Somalis were so clever? Too bad they can't use their ingenuity to turn around the cesspool at home. Or just feed their people.
The saga in Minnesota continues. A major state audit conducted by the nonpartisan Office of the Legislative Auditor just found widespread failures and internal control problems in the Department of Human Services’ Behavioral Health Administration (BHA) grant program.
The report, released on Monday, found that between July 1, 2022, and Dec. 31, 2024, DHS dished out more than $425 million in grants to 830 organizations, the majority being nongovernmental, without proper oversight in watching over those taxpayer funds, which in many cases were meant to help those with addiction and mental health issues. Tip of the iceberg no doubt.
Minnesota’s government agencies are already under heavy scrutiny amid a fraud scandal that prosecutors say could total as much as $9 billion.
Now, for the Grand Prize, Can You Guess Which Gov is Dropping His Reelection Bid? 10 Seconds.
Yup. Dim Tim. Undoubtedly, hoping that by slinking off into the tundra the DOJ will move on. Not so fast Timmy. Remember... "no one is above the law". Duh - what am I talking about? He's gonna go before a judge in Minnesota.
In a related matter...remember when we opined that the best way to deflect criticism from incompetence and even criminality is to promote the alleged perpetrator? Well, looks like it's happening again. Walz's Lieutenant Governor, Peggy Flanagan, is running for the Senate in the Gopher State
In yet another related matter, a review of HUD rental assistance payments under Biden showed 30,0000 plus recipients were deceased. Most were in NY, DC and, yep, the Wildfire State. Ka-ching, ka-ching, flush, flush.
Liar Liar, Cities on Fire
The Palisades Fire, which ignited in January 2025, was the third most destructive in California’s history. LAFD Chief Jaime Moore made an admission about the report during an LA Fire Commission meeting on Tuesday.
"It is now clear that multiple drafts were edited to soften language and reduce explicit criticism of the department leadership in that final report. This editing occurred prior to my appointment as Fire Chief. And I can assure you that nothing of this sort will happen ever again while I am Fire Chief."
Apologies, too many deceptions to unpack herein.
Now to the Local Sports Front.
Thank goodness I didn't go to press earlier. Was going to say looks like Mike McDaniel will survive. Not. For the record, the bigger problem is the GM. The previous guy was fired (six years too late). Now they need a proven one who cleans house. I like the assistant from the Eagles. Talent much more important than motivation or schemes at this point.
Tua, on the other hand, has said it would be dope to play for another team. I agree. How about the Jets, except after October 15th?
The Fish (Marlins) continue their time-honored tradition of trading away every half decent player immediately after they have their best season. Fish sent top pitcher Edward Cabrera to the Cubs. Take that you few remaining fans.
Go Canes. Please go Canes.
"Confirmation"
A while back I reported what appeared to be an increase in attendance at Sunday mass. Started right after Trump was elected and surged following Charlie Kirk's assassination. Saw another datapoint that suggests this might not be a one off.
SEEK 2026, an annual Catholic conference for American youth, just reported a 24% increase in attendance at its events around the country. Some hope?
