Dear Mr. President...(9/4/26)

I have been a supporter of yours since you walked down the Trump Tower stairs on June 15, 2015. Not easily, not instinctively. But common sense prevailed. And I have been defending you ever since.

At the beginning I was mocked but I retorted. Listen the guy is smart, says he cares about America, is saying the right stuff and has money so he doesn't need political payoffs. Moreover, he has an ego that won't allow him to quit or surrender. Let's give him some rope.

I even coined the phrase...Policy Trumps Personality. I anticipated feathers would be ruffled along way. I sang your praises throughout Trump 1.0, discounting many rookie missteps. I couldn't help but think 2020 was rigged. And I was joyful when you won in 2024. My reaction? Here We Go!!!!

I still remain supportive of the things you have undertaken and accomplished since Trump 2.0 started. Nearly all in fact. But the truth is I can no longer defend you with vigor at every turn. I am tired.

I am tired of your selfish, sophomoric behavior. I am tired of you putting your ego and your legacy ahead of your Party, me and my fellow Americans. I am tired of you squandering every opportunity to maintain and increase support for the policies we elected you to implement.

I am tired of you allowing Personality to Trump Policy.

Of what do I speak?

I shudder at your inability to stay on message. Instead you rely on tedious, rambling, disconnected diatribes. Instead of explaining things from a glass half full perspective you spend time darting this way and that. Attacking adversaries, praising your own accomplishments and going off track time and again. AI is a perfect example.

Your egotistical power grabs for unimportant things like renaming monuments, buildings and bodies of water are petty and annoying. They do not build support nor make America better. All they do is infuriate neighbors and allies, while making our President look megalomaniac.

Your never-ending litany of bombastic superlatives...greatest of all time, greatest in American history, greatest we've ever seen... fall in the same bucket. Utterly annoying, they serve to make you look unserious and utterly undignified. Not to mention fatally impugning credibility.

And, let's not forget your nasty side. Here "greatest ever" may actually apply. Never has an American leader ever resorted to the volume of snide remarks and personal insults you have. Used on occasion such rhetoric can have purposeful "shock value". Like when Reagan called the Soviet Union "the Evil Empire." But used ten times a day for everything and everyone you don't like or crosses you in some way serves no purpose whatsoever, except to make you "more" unlikeable.

I could provide hundreds literally of examples but the point has been made.

The bottom line is you are failing. Not in tasks accomplished or undertaken. Not in promises kept. But as a leader. The President is, first and foremost, supposed to lead. To martial and expand support for the policies he was elected to implement and the decision he takes.

You are failing. Just look at the polls. All the polls.

In theory, the remedy is clear. Stop being you and start being Ronald Reagan. Smile, shake your head slightly and poke a little fun at those who oppose or criticize. Instead of excoriating and deriding. Then go on to explain the benefits of what you are doing and why. Clearly, logically, succinctly...again and again and again.

You have already accomplished many great things. But the future for more is murky. TDS is real and you are the single greatest cause.

So stop letting Personality Trump Policy. Put hubris, ego and flippancy in the closet until 2029. For you this will be insanely difficult. In truth, I suspect unrealistic. But, please, give it your best - for all our sake.
